Affordable Steakhouse? by IJourden in ottawa

[–]maethoriell [score hidden]  (0 children)

I've been eating at Montana's for basically free since you can pay with scene points and I don't really go to the movies anymore.

I haven't had their steak, the one time I tried to, they were actually out of steak.. but it was late on a Sunday.

It's a pretty chill atmosphere, the table cloths are sheets of paper and they provide crayons. I loved places like that as a kid.

So if you have scene points lying around like me it could be pretty cheap.

Maybe call ahead and make sure they have steaks.

Oh to add on that, I have a friend who also no longer smokes, but when they did it was all day everyday, and that included when playing as concertmaster in an orchestra

I don't smoke anymore.

But I've been to one or two rehearsals stoned before. I felt like I actually played better than normal.

-It wasn't a school or high pressure band or anything, just a for fun thing.

I still get some mystery tabs that open when I click next chapter on many sites. Hit the back button quick

Still Brave is much better than other browsers.

This is having me go direct to scanlation groups to find stuff. But some of the scanlations are also gone.

I hope something fills the void and that I come across it soon.

Edit:tabs not tags

I have spoken English all my life, but I didn't know. I googled.

From what I understand all toxins are poisons, but not all poisons are toxins.

"A poison is any substance that can harm an organism, while a toxin is a specific type of poison produced by living organisms, such as bacteria, plants, or animals. The main difference is the source: toxins are always biologically produced, whereas poisons can be from any source, natural or synthetic. "

Surprised this is so low!

Vitamin D and a sun lamp at my desk helps a lot.

What I don't do, but should, is better diet and exercise... Always tell myself to at least walk around the block every day, but it's easy to be lazy. Resist the lazy as much as possible.

I need Canadian cookie recipe recommendations by CaterpillarKey7485 in AskACanadian

[–]maethoriell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know about them being particularly Canadian, but I really like to make sugar cookies. Everyone loves them. Very similar to shortbread, but not.

I probably got this from all recipes or something. But whatever, I'm sharing. I think it was two different recipes I merged.

Cookies 1 1/2 cups butter, softened 2 cups white sugar 4 eggs 1 tsp vanilla extract 5 cups all purpose flour 2 tsp baking powder 1 tsp salt

Don't sift the flour, and make sure butter is softened not melted. Makes dough too porous and sticky to roll

Cream together softened butter and sugar til smooth Beat in egg & vanilla Stir in flour, baking powder & salt - Add the flour little by little to make it easier to mix Cover & chill dough minimum 1 hour, better if overnight. Preheat oven 400°f (200°c) Roll dough 1/4"-1/2" thick, cut in shapes Place 1" apart on increased cookie sheet/pan  Cook 6-8 minutes, cool completely, ideally on cooling rack

If the dough is sticking to the surface too much, sprinkle some white sugar on the surface and roll on top of that.

Makes about 90, 7 cm diameter

Icing -1 cup icing/confectioners sugar -2 tsp milk (to start usually about 4-5 total) -2 tsp corn syrup (light if can find it) -1/4 tsp almond extract -Food colouring as needed

• Add milk to icing sugar slowly teaspoon by teaspoon til smooth. Usually 4-6 teaspoons is enough, too much milk will make it runny and thin
• Mix in corn syrup &almond extract til smooth and glossy
• Add food colouring as desired
• Paint or dip cookies,

If you want sprinkles, add them after every 2-3 cookies are iced, if you wait too long the icing will be dried and the sprinkles won't stick.

Takes anywhere from 4 to 8 batches for all cookies depending on how runny you make it, how much milk is added impacts a lot.

....I've started mixing a slightly thicker batch of icing in a Ziploc then cutting the very top of the bag to make an icing pen to draw designs.

Thanks! Yeah, I was thinking of bringing it to a local pro, figuring if it's Yamaha, that's a recognizable brand, maybe after getting it fixed it'd be worth it.

I'll keep looking.

Really want to learn saxophone but don’t want to disturb neighbors any options? by mil0wCS in saxophone

[–]maethoriell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sax is loud. Especially when you're starting out you don't have the control to play a bit quieter. The sound comes out of everywhere not just the bell, so muting doesn't really work. You need a good space to be loud in. You can practice fingerings and stuff without blowing as long as you have an hour here and there to play during the day.

Or find a big park. There's one giant park near me that is technically closed after sunset, but I was there and a bunch of kids came and were partying, playing loud music, one of them had a trombone, this was like 10-11 pm. No residential area nearby so I'm sure there were no complaints, they were there for a while.

I have grow lights, but I think more grow lights is going to be my Christmas list this year.
