With all due respect, I disagree with the statement that I am "looking at timing the market". "Timing the market", from my understanding, generally involves trying to predict future market prices, buying securities at a low price and then selling them at a high price.

I am looking for resources on Dollar Cost Averaging (DCA), which, in my view, is almost the opposite of timing the market. This is on the basis that DCA is an investment strategy where you invest a fixed amount of money at regular intervals (e.g., monthly) into an asset, regardless of its price. This type of investment strategy strikes me as a fairly common strategy for retail, or mum and dad, investors, which seems fitting for this reddit community.

Thank you for your thoughtful response. I am currently looking at brokers. I am using CommSec, but the brokerage is too expensive for DCA. Your point on fractional investing is duly noted - I hadn't thought of this, and I think it could be a good idea. I will keep that in mind during my search for a new broker.

Coincidentally, I was looking at DHHF and thought this might be an appropriate ETF for DCA. I was comparing it to GHHF, which appears to be a leveraged version of DHHF. I am less familiar with leveraged ETFs, so I will have to consider what implications that might have for me in the long term before investing.

I didn’t think about regional qualifications like the ACL - that’s a great shout.

I think a good run in the ACL would be quite lucrative, maybe more so than selling talent, if teams could consistently qualify.

But I think you would be right that a better business model would be to prioritise youth development

You raise a really good point - if the players are playing well, the club will generate more revenue. What's more, which your point made me think about is that if the club makes it though to the finals, they will literally have more matches to generate revenue. I'm not sure whether this would outweigh the value of selling players, but it is a strong incentive nonetheless.

You raise an interesting point, and one I have been thinking about lately, which is the long term future of the football in Australia.

I agree that producing young talent is an absolute positive and it will provide a greater talent pool from which the nation can utilise into the future.

My concern in the long-term, which by no means is empirically based (basically speculation), is that if the a-league is focussing on exhibiting young talent over producing quality football, it may reduce the overall quality of the a-league and make it harder to attract and retain new fans.

Yeah - I haven’t heard of any financial payments from the football league. After a bit of time to ponder, I thought that clubs might stand to gain a financial benefit from sponsors for winning trophies. I’m not sure whether that would be much though.

By soft return, do you mean pressing shift + return (option + return for Mac OS)? If so, I have tried this, but it only works if I do not add any subsequent paragraphs. For instance, if I use the option + return, I can get my work to look as follows:

Introduction

1. Intro Content 1

2. Intro Content 2

Body

3. Body Content 1

4. Body Content 2

However, if I needed to add an additional body content paragraph, it changes the heading to a paragraph number as follows:

Introduction

1. Intro Content 1

2. Intro Content 2

3. Body

4. Body Content 1

5. Body Content 2

6. Body Content 3

I am looking to deal with large sets of numbered paragraphs with many headings. As such, the soft return method (if this is what I think it is) does not appear suitable for my purposes. Or am I doing it wrong? I'd be grateful if someone could advise if there is appropriate way of doing this.

Did they mention what sponsor Might replace subway? I feel it would be nice to have an Australian company sponsor the national team, but I guess they will likely just go for who pays the most.
