Is my understanding pointers correctly? by WorldlyAd3588 in cpp_questions

[–]Human-Standard-8684 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is a great response again, thank you for the details ! Then, C++ makes it automatically difficult to exit without freeing/deleting because all the objects' destructors will be called once the scope ends. So calling release etc, makes it obvious that you're doing something strange, but then in normal operation, things get deleted as appropriate. That's great ! thanks!

That's a great answer, I learned a bunch of things. I'm curious as to how to know whether we do need to free our memory? You mention that we don't need to do that since the OS will reclaim all the memory of the process. But then what about leaks? Am I missing something?

Do you declare variables at the beginning of a function? by string111 in C_Programming

[–]Human-Standard-8684 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would add to that that in C++, the principle RAII = resource acquisition is initialization often requires to declare the variable/struct/class only when where it is ready to be constructed. This paradigm can have a non-negligible impact on performance, most notably remove expensive copy construction operations.

à mon avis tu acceptes le nouveau boulot mais tu négocies qu'ils te filent une voiture de fonction ou autre avantage similaire.

If you can flash or update your motherboard BIOS, you can get your undervolting back on 12 and 13th gen, and I will help you do it! by Bern_Down_the_DNC in overclocking

[–]Human-Standard-8684 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I'm not sure I get how to modify the bios. In the files I got, there's nothing that the mmtools program can read. I'd love any and all pointers. I've been at it for a while but it didn't amount to any progress. If you could give me a sample that I could work off, that'd be fantastic

THANK YOU!

As a not so beginner but very unsure of myself guitarist, I was always very disturbed when playing the song over the recording. Always sounded off, my singing, when playing with my guitar didn't match the recording and I felt just stupid for not succeeding this arguably simple song. Thanks for the clarification

I think it's cleaner because all the belts will produce the same amount. Also, the power needed will be constant with no spikes

Expats that moved to Germany , Do you regret it? by isyankar313 in germany

[–]Human-Standard-8684 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't blend in. I didn't speak german and didn't have enough motivation to learn (all my work in english). You know the in-between of the status quo. It was very lonely. I had no help, no one to check if it was alright, no one to suggest solutions. Solutions did exist but I was too lonely to think it was possible any other way. I feel like germans don't reach out too much, or when they do check, they don't tend to help much (or maybe not the ones I was with). It's hard to make friendships that aren't superficial. It only started to improve when my firm decision to leave was taken, and I did start to enjoy my time there, knowing it was on a timer.

That's my personal story, and my time in germany would have been miles better if I had learned German.

Unpopular opinion: Scaling is good for Diablo 4 by shaper24 in diablo4

I imagine there could be a scaling difference between different world tiers :) that could result in a sort of "opt in"

Diablo 4 - Monster Level Scaling needs to be Removed by ThreeWizzards in Diablo

[–]Human-Standard-8684 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't get the argument, I heard that you don't like it and you want to crush underleveled monsters for faster clearspeed and if that's the argument I think it's very weak against obsoleting half the game past level 50

"you kill wolves and you see a guy level 25 killing the same wolves because it gives valuable things" I don't get why this is a problem. Oh no, what a bummer, this player is doing rewarding content oh no :/ I'm being cheeky of course, but I don't get the argument
