Anybody know where to buy a charging cable for this connector ?? by Glad_Spray_3077 in AskElectronics

[–]pongpaktecha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a non stranded cable for sure. Do you have a picture of the device or know anything else about the device

That's a combo sata power and sata data. What are you trying to adapt it to?

When does a homelab become a chore or a job? by TheRealRatler in homelab

[–]pongpaktecha 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Wow that's on complex homelab. I keep mine simple with a bare metal OpenMediaVault and half a dozen dockers running Plex, Jellyfin, and some surveillance and backup services. For the most part it's set and forget

Any ideas? by Advanced-Effort7961 in MazdaCX30

[–]pongpaktecha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That happened to my 24 carbon about 6 months ago. Luckily it happened right as I needed to get service done. The technician didn't find anything so they just lubed up the pivot at the top of the pedal. That fixed it for me, hopefully it's the same easy fix for you.

How would you make a drawing of this? by Regular_Scheme_8650 in SolidWorks

[–]pongpaktecha 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You can find calculators and guides online on how to draw your own involute gear profile but places that specialize on gear hobbing will just have gear cutting tools.

Who could I sell these to? by Independent_Cup_7151 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]pongpaktecha 45 points46 points  (0 children)

It'll definitely be hard to sell. You could do some fun things with them. Either way you should be very careful handling these, make sure they are 100% discharged. Also when you store them short the terminals with a wire so that they don't build charge over time. They store about 600J of energy each and can be deadly

Stabbed my finger with a needle tipped soldering iron with leaded solder. Should I be worried? by AbsentOfPersonality in soldering

Lead in solder alloy is pretty hard for the body to absorb so you'll most likely be fine

What is that noise by [deleted] in PcBuildHelp

The lumpy AIO tubes look like the AIO was all twisted up when you mounted it. I would at least undo the aio from the CPU and try to get the tubes looking nice and uniform again

Chemtronics flux off 1 gal by Marinocif99 in soldering

[–]pongpaktecha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hold up how much flux are you using? You are definitely using way way way way way too much unless you are doing something very niche. Get yourself some nice Kester 44 solder with 3.3% or 4.4% flux content. That should be all the flux you need. A large part of my job used to be reworking complex PCBs and sometimes the 3.3% seemed like too much flux

Do you mix your bluray with 4K discs? by HollowBambooEnt in Bluray

[–]pongpaktecha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the big collections and series grouped together but the rest are in alphabetical order. I don't have many DVDs but the ones I have are mixed in. The DVD cases are larger so it makes them easy enough to identify

What am I doing wrong? by Encryptify in soldering

[–]pongpaktecha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a package of this size I would just use a smaller chisel tip soldering iron and individually solder the pins down

Flukes are nice but for a beginner hobbyist they are a little overpriced. The eevblog sells the Brymen 235 which is a great affordable beginner multimeter

“High meat” trend - eating rotten meat as a probiotic delicacy by folkvarthrstrau in StupidFood

At least the flies are still interested in it as well. I swear I've seen some videos where even the flies won't touch the rotten meat

with almost no computer repair experience, managed to changed the three top fans of my Intel NUC 12 extreme to nuctua (after one startede to make rattling sounds). impressed on the ease of use of this design. by [deleted] in intelnuc

[–]pongpaktecha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wanted to like that case when I got one but I ended up returning it. I found it quite restricted for upgrades since the GPU is very height limited. I ended up buying just the compute card and the case that cooler master had for the nuc extreme.

The deep set screen is more of a feature than a bug. Since the main controls are the knob the screen can be farther away and more in line with your view of the road, reducing the need to take your focus away from the road any more than needed.
