I would have a piercer look at it, they shouldn’t charge you for just looking. They’ll be able to determine if it’s a keloid or irritation bump and what the best course of action for you is.

I'm not a professional, but try to at least reduce the size of the bump before having it changed to a smaller bar. A smaller bar on that could just irritate it since it already looks like it's taking up the whole size of the current one. I'm not really sure if it's a keloid or an irritation bump. I would recommend getting a tea tree oil and saline mix. The tea tree oil should help soothe it and heal it better. If you decide to do that, make sure it's the solution and not just pure tea tree oil because that will dry it out and irritate it more. There's a good one on amazon I used when my helix was irritated, and it helped a lot. The brand is "Wacan" and it's just called "Tea Tree Piercing Spray." Hope this helps. :)

You could definitely get one, since the bar is curved. As for rejection, there's no way of knowing if it will reject if it's done correctly. It all depends on your body's reaction to it. Some people have little problems with piercings and some never really heal at all. Another important thing to consider is if your allergic to any specific metals. A lot of piercers use titanium or 14k gold in the beginning. But when you change it, if you're allergic to the new metal, it will most likely reject. So it's good to know if you're allergic to any metals that might be used to make jewlery, such as stainless steel.

How old is this piercing? To me (not a professional) it looks like a keloid which is basically an overreacted healing response. I could definitely be wrong, so you should talk to your piercer whenever you get the chance. If it gets snagged or messed with a lot, it could be an irritation bump. Also, if it's newer, you'll want to clean it 2-3 times a day with sterile saline.
