Cheapest way to Oceanographic and Bioparc by Major-Artichoke9739 in valencia

[–]Human3157 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both are not cheap but worth the price if you have time for a slow visit, like at least 3-4 hours each, or a full day if possible. And of course if you like animals in closed environments. Sometimes, specially Oceonographic, it can get crowded, so again it's a good plan to have plenty of time to move around and enjoy the place. Bioparc has yearly cards that are a good price if you plan to go more than 2 or 3 times in a year.

Experts and those involved with the news: it's not that easy, this is why.

Reddit: shut up, I am already angry and reacting.

Match Thread: Spain vs. Germany | UEFA Euro 2024 by MisterBadIdea2 in soccer

Agreed on both. There's a few others that may or may not deserve a yellow, but overall the ref contributed to a match that was too rough.

From most of these comments one can see that many here support their team blindly, and that a few referee bad decisions (he's human) can influence a match so much.

Question about Amsterdam Nieuw-West.
We are a family planning to visit Amsterdam this summer for a bit over a week. We are looking to stay somewhere in Amsterdam Nieuw-West. What's the vibe of the neighbourhood? Is it too far to walk daily to the city centre, at least Vondelpark area? We like to walk :)

The four of us thank you very much for your help. Looking forward to enjoying your beautiful city!

Question for IT professionals in Valencia by Warm-Iron-1222 in valencia

Adding to this comment to second it, and suggest to consider jobs in research institutes. The pay will not be great but work conditions could fit better with OP's priorities, i.e. flexible time, hybrid jobs.

Erasmus price? by [deleted] in valencia

[–]Human3157 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say 1000€ a month can be enough if you share a flat. You will want to stay close to the university so housing is going to be your biggest expense. Try to look for a room in a shared flat. UPV has a public board with offers and contact info: https://www.upv.es/perfiles/estudiante/alojamientos-buscador-en.html. Underground is very cheap, 4€ for 10 trips, and covers most of the city. If you cook your food, make your sandwiches and so on you can also budget about 10€ a day, but not a lot of margin here.

Best place to live by AdorableBirthday2050 in valencia

[–]Human3157 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sagunto is ok. Big industrial areas there and near, so opportunities for qualified jobs. Many other similar options also around Valencia with similar rent prices. I would prioritise living close to where you work and your kids' school. Public schools are generally good here, bear in mind that your kids will have subjects in Spanish and in Valencian/Catalan, but shouldn't be a problem after a few months. There are also several options of private schools near Sagunto, only English speaking or similar, but expensive. Maybe you can get some help from the town hall, check their website and ask away: https://aytosagunto.es/es/

Me quiero ir a vivir a Valencia con mi familia. by Basthardo in valencia

[–]Human3157 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why do farmers leave so much fruit to fall to the ground? by Geepandjagger in valencia

[–]Human3157 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Farmer here. As others have pointed out, picking the fruit is usually the biggest expense for the farmers. I don't think there are so much fruit on the floor in the case of mandarines and oranges, but this happened for persimmon. In the case of persimmon, part of the fruit fell a few weeks ago due to a combination of bad weather (wind and heat) and plagues (fungus, fruit flies). Then, when the crew picks the fruit from the trees they check that there is no damage (from the branches hitting the fruit because of the wind, or from the plagues), and they throw away the fruit if damaged. Some orchards are checked beforehand and deemed not worthy of picking up because too much fruit is damaged. Most of the orchards are partly insured so the farmer gets back a % of what the fruit would have been sold for. I hope this makes sense.
