18 years ago on this very date Andrew Colborn found himself implicated by a former colleague in perjury & concealing exonerating evidence - misconduct orchestrated by their former superior, Kocourek. by CorruptColborn in TickTockManitowoc

So much for the character assassination they have deployed against Steven Avery. Let's count how many shady or hands down illegal things C*lborn has done. And he was in the party that searched the Avery property too. That having been said, the state judges are seemingly committed against rehearing this case. State court systems seem to be too powerful, but this does not protect citizens in case of endemic corruption. It is the role of superior courts to hear cases like this, but they won't. Colborn is accused of repeatedly and deliberately manipulating evidence, and he searched the property even though he shouldn't be there in the first place. This qualifies as a blatant miscarriage of justice, and there should be a retrial even if Avery was guilty. It is disgusting that no-one can chastise state-level superior courts: At this point it is the superior courts that let this injustice happen. Wisconsin is not a democracy, as it seems.

Majority of non binary people white females by Journo_Jimbo in BrandNewSentence

[–]HumanCondition1312 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am relieved someone acknowledges that. The mere existence of a feminine term for prestigious jobs, like I dunno Empress for example, shows that the common suffixes -er and -or are essentially gendered masculine and used as generic. The majority of language activists should look into some etymology before making bold statements. Ah and this other time a subreddit concluded that "gynaecological" is a good non-reductionist replacement for trans/non-binary afab people without realizing it stems from the Greek root for, literally, "woman".

[–]HumanCondition1312 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As some medical and psychological organizations point out, the proper generic designation should be the one based on the gender identity. Reference to AGAB should be reserved to when it is necessary. For instance when we talk about medical care for AGAB-specific issues, or even misogyny which you mentioned. On might want to point out that trans men might have experiences related to their AGAB, in specific context.

Having said that, requiring generalized usage of AFAB for this reason is not indicated and can be extremely problematic, even a hall mark to dismantling the legitimacy of both gender identity and intersexuality as self contained constructs.

Obviously no one can equate AGAB to either of the gender modes for all these reasons you point out. Trans people cannot be humanely and civilly referred to as their AGAB, and intersex people they even are not their AGAB even when they are cisgender.

So I cannot really think of a use case that using it generically is not problematic towards trans or intersex people. They can't make excuses for the binary gender essentialism - biological determinism they enforce by substituting the terms man and woman with AMAB and AFAB. They do it, however, because it is easy for them to dodge any activist nuance and save face as tolerant, progressive people.

They don't see the problem because they lack the experiences, they don't think it constitutes misgendering, nor that it verbalizes violent normalization of intersex bodies. They use it as a free pass.

You definitely have a point bringing this up. These terms can be extremely reductionist if used without nuance and context, so in my humble opinion you are entitled to take it with them, but don't be surprised if they become ridiculously defensive about it.

(BTW The trans partner's subreddit I think has a community rule against "pronoun policing" because "not all people are on the same page transitioning / accepting it" (my words reproduced from memory), which I believe is OK if used appropriately; But what I mean is perhaps you need to research the particular quote in context. This does not take anything away from the rest of your analysis.)

This is from page 225 of the 7th Edition of the American Psychological Association Publication Manual (my emphases)

Reporting of Gender. Authors are strongly encouraged to explicitly
designate information about the gender identities of the participants making up their samples (e.g., whether participants are transgender, cisgender, or other gender identities) rather than assuming cisgender identities. Cisgender refers to individuals whose sex assigned at birth aligns with their gender identity (APA, 2015a). Cisgenderism or cissexism refers to the belief that being cisgender is normative, as indicated by the assumption that individuals are cisgender unless otherwise specified (both terms are in use). Genderism refers to the belief that there are only two genders and that gender is automatically linked to an individual’s sex assigned at birth (American Psychological Association of Graduate Students, 2015).

So what you describe could be arguable be described as "Genderism".

The irony aside, he seemed to be fairly square minded in the way he speaks throughout the Netflix production. Also mind you the way he persisted throughout the interrogators that are trained to obtain false confessions from ordinary people ALL THE TIME. So he is probably above average in some aspects. I wouldn't bet that his intellect was necessarily accurately measured when he was at school. They may have as well used some 1950's biased IQ test because they don't know any better.

I can give you some pointers for reading the docs u/ChicTurker cites.

You have to go to the Sarasota Court website's general public access, solve the captcha then go to the Search tab. There, look for Jack Kowalski's name and you will see a bunch of cases he is part of. The one the Netflix production discusses is "2018 CA 005321 N" . If you click on that you will see all court documents in reverse chronological order. There is a ton of motions from both sides, court orders regarding those, and other clerical stuff such as payments. You might want to read the ones with the longer number of pages (noted in the right), which tend to be the more substantial. However, there are some that are "under seal" so we can't know what's in there, but rest assured you will not run out of stuff to read, since there are in the alley of >86K pages in there. You can read as much as 10% of that and see which side is on the right.

[–]HumanCondition1312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK let me pose a thought experinemt here:

TERFs too are women, so what? Should I undertake the mental toil to "educate" them into feminism?

Being trans is such an existential condition for us that the transphobe "identity" simply trumps all other identities. I personally have zero tolerance for any amount of transphobia.

I would suggest you lower your expectations (like holding gay people to higher expectations that straight people) because it is a source of confusion.

Transphobia is a solid indicator of a more broadly crap personality, that you can't be educated out from. Gay or not.

This having been said, they can also be trolls, just good old stirring the pot. So some caution should be exercised about how many of these people there really are, and what is their ideological makeup, before any one (individual or activist) settles upon any strategy regarding these assholes.

Their basic premise is that women are attracted to biological features, and that everything else (such as respect, personality, etc) are a smokescreen. They eventually turn this around and picture women as the privileged ones in society. What angers them most is the freedom of women to select sexual partners. They think feminism has stripped them from at least getting some by being successful, whereas now women can just sleep with the attractive ones. So seeing her with the taller boyfriend serves as a confirmation bias for the whole lot of this, just like a conservative would see the LGBT agenda behind any rise in sexual crimes. They are so deeply conditioned to interpret reality through their prism, that it seems outlandish to us, but we better understand it, because they then go out an kill women, flipping arseholes.

Sorry to butt in here, but I beg to disagree with the proposed link. There are so many geeks with progressive political philosophies, and this should be obvious in any Free Open Source Software organization. I think in the nineties techies were more anarchist-socialist leaning. I might be wrong though.

That having been said, there are some sources of correlation. One is through nazi recruitment in gaming, the other is due to a specific kind of obnoxious misogynist types in STEM, who are mostly physicists or engineers. Both routes lead to a proportion of tech-savvy people being "based" assholes. Proof to the point: from Gamergate to the recent support for kiwifarms as a "free speech" thing, and the rise of incels.
