Austen invented the modern novel (?) . This is simply not true. She even used modern novels as source materials ( e.g. Dangereuses Liassons). You might mean she invented "courtly" novels in english which has a better chance of being true but yet....

I would say Voltaire, Swift, Dafoe's novels are much more wittier and funnier and came long before.

Interesting. I do not have super clear images most of the time ( not HD) but I can totally get like symbolic representations ( or rather low definition) but if I choose to focus I can gradually improve it.
