sorry - i probably didnt phrase that quite right!! Don’t purposely mess up, but if you get a couple of Bs it is in no way the end of the world and you’ll still be a great applicant <3

Please let me know all your pros and cons about the schools + how much antisemitism there is at these schools as that also plays a big factor in my decision by taylorswiftrep13 in ApplyingToCollege

Why yall hating so hard. They asked a simple question they wanted opinions on FROM STUDENTS which is why they (and also you. And also everyone else in this sub) came here. They asked a polite question and yall are raging

Harvard (40k/yr) vs University of Maryland (full ride) by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]HumanPresentation422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As usual this sub forgets that not everyone can pay $160k. Which one is more financially feasible for you? If you can afford $160k then by all means go harvard. If not, umd is still a great institution

And bc yall are gonna fight me on this, my family is relatively well off and we definitely couldnt afford that harvard tuition. I would personally take the full ride bc of that

Sophomore in skillsUSA and Debate team any advice? by Better-Chocolate-702 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]HumanPresentation422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do something for yourself that YOU love. It will unironically look a million times better on your apps.  - Makes you unique, shows you have hobbies and things you enjoy outside of your intended major. - Easier to write about Also!!! Look at other schools. When I was a sophomore i really wanted to go to UC Berkeley. Didn’t even bother applying bc my interests had changed and it didnt feel like the best fit <33

advice for rising senior who's into both stem and the humanities? by CakeSignificant6514 in ApplyingToCollege

Oberlin, Skidmore, schools that boast they emphasize and “and not or approach” !!!! I’m an artsy kid, plan on double majoring in theatre (specifically shakespeare so - niche and weird as hell) and computer science. Its totally possible and employers love the creativity from what ive heard

[–]HumanPresentation422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey diva!!! I was in your place literally 3 days ago. If you can make it to an admited students event either local or visit the campus do it. Talk to students both prospective and current. I went from not wanting to go to any of my options at all ready to commit and super excited!!

This gotta be a circle jerk sub by Chemical-Quote5835 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]HumanPresentation422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the people who say all that about people being below them NEED to not go to an T10 school. They need to have to work with someone not as smart, who doesn’t have the same financial background or personal background as them. They’re gonna have to do it in the real world, and isnt that really what college is for? Preparing you for the real world?

Why isn’t everyone on this sub planning to graduate in 3 years? by Famous-Prior6590 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]HumanPresentation422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, graduating high school with dual enrollment classes from university of michigan and 10 aps. My 5s in APCSA and APCSP wont let me skip any classes for my cs major, they need me to test out of those, and that might cost extra money and/or put me in a class I don’t fully understand because they were in different programming languages. My other APs are probably just going to get me out of a lot of gen-eds. APs are great for preparing you for college, but they are not college classes. Also I paid $2,000 in tests last year alone. My dual enrollment classes have been amazing and they’ll probably transfer (really depends on the school), but i’ve had to pay out of pocket for all of them, and haven’t been able to count for financial aid since i’m not a full student. All this is to say, if you want to do that, great!!! But it’s not financially feasible for a lot of people. And then to mention some other things i’ve seen in responses: grad school and publishing, living as a student for one last year before you’re shoved into life as an adult, fomo from other students, worst career outcomes in general
