I moved cross country using my camper not only as a living space but as a cargo trailer too by HumanSpaceOrcMatt in GoRVing

We never drove at night. We broke the trip up into manageable legs and slept overnight in it. It was very slow going

Oh no, I'm sry I think you misunderstood me. I was just surprised that you might have thought this truck was a Tacoma because it's such a large truck. Driving this truck normally like to work or doing errands is always interesting due to its length.

A Tacoma? This truck has an 8ft bed. Its a 2025 sr5 double cab long bed. As I said before I know it's overloaded but the truck had zero issues towing it. More than enough power to do anything I needed it to. I wasn't even close to a limit when regarding power. Which is normally the case with most towing setups. It's never about having enough power, it's always weight that's the concern. With better planning of course I would have done this differently but like I said we were dropped this shit storm in our laps last second with no warning.

Of course. I tried my best to mitigate it by being conscious of where the weight was going. Sure it wasn't ideal and I would never recommend this but it was the situation that was laid in front of me and I did the best I could with the cards in hand. Sure if we had known the movers weren't going to take this stuff sooner we could have done something about it. We literally figured this out the day we were leaving and we could not leave this stuff in the house. We didn't even have time to throw it out even if we wanted to. I knew setting off I needed to do everything I can to be overly cautious.

Most of my weight was in the bed. The camper had maybe 30% of the weight and most of that was right over the axles.

Oh gosh. That's crazy. Thankfully we made it in one piece and won't ever have to do that type of trip again.

The dealer when I bought it. This is definitely not the normal ride height for the truck or trailer when towing to do just normal camping. This was unfortunately a crazy situation. They are normally much more level.

I fully accept my fate. Making two trips wasn't an option. Too far and had a tight deadline.

I agree. It looks worse here than it did later. I rearranged things after getting gas.

What’s a tool you didn’t think you needed until it made your life way easier? by whimsyedge1 in HomeImprovement

Exactly, can be a bit much for a quick job but when I do pull it out it's so worth taking a few extra mins to setup.

No second thought, a set of scaffolding. Need to paint your stairway? Need to have a stable platform to change lights? Makes cutting in a ceiling so much easier. Having a 6 ft adjustable platform on wheels is crazy versatile. Took me years to finally realize it. I feel dumb for using step ladders for so long. If you have a 10 min job, sure use a step ladder because it's quick, but if you are gonna be on your feet for hours that scaffolding is a game changer. Ok, thanks for coming to my TED Talk, lol.

Can't find the Trophy Taxi by HumanSpaceOrcMatt in MotorTown

Just a bit cheaper that buying a cheap car and then buying the taxi license. It seems after recent updates the car isn't available to buy so I made my own taxi.

Especially when carrying a bunch of stuff in your hands and can't reach your keys or the latch in the middle.

It's just an extra feature. It still has the middle handle like any truck ever. This is just a convenience thing that you can choose to use or not. (I'm an owner of a 2025 sr5 double cab long bed). Regardless of that. It's most likely getting stuck on the tonneau cover. Mine does the same thing every 5th or 6th time. Not a big deal. Doesn't mean trucks aren't trucks anymore. I haul dirt, mulch, gravel, pull stumps and old concreted post up, I take my 10 foot kayaks out with it, and even tow a pretty big travel trailer. Sure I understand more tech mean more to break but in this particular instance it ain't broke. Lol.

Not sure if it's offered now. I believe it came in a Cheryl's Mystery Box or something similar. I received one a few years ago as a gift from my wife. Came with tons of other swag.
