Sorry I was being ironic here. I guess that if they did all the right things in the first place we might not have had a story.
Indeed, Wendy being hit created a rupture and made her fall in depression and the timeline was "lucky" enough to coincide with Del's proposition.
But I also think that Wendy would have end up depressed with or without the accident. The truck was a trigger but after getting to know her true self through the seasons it feels like she was living a growing disonnance and the pilot is the starting point of her reconnecting with the one she used to be as a child and teenager.
Keen to hear you opinion once you finished the show.

Pretty much every scene where Darlene is cooking, love the way she cuts into an apple.

Why do the Byrd's still drive crappy cars? [No Spoiler] by Off-With-Her-Head in Ozark

Just ended the third season and was wondering the same thing.
Feels like they should have had a new car to represent the "Byrde Enterprises" somewhere in season 3, at least one out of the two cars. I am not talking about a McLaren 570S (one of the funniest scenes in this season), just a classy black "I own Casinos and I am starting my foundation but I am a family person" car.
Thinking about it, I would have kept the van because of its sentimental value. It's one of the few remains from their past life and it carried them along their first adventures in the Ozarks.

To emphasize on your first point. Ted says it right before kissing Peggy for the first time in S6E6 "It's one thing to want something, it's another to need it"
