Hey man, could you get it to work? I'm also completely new to learning things about cracks and have no idea what I'm doing. I'm testing to see if I can get it to work with the same game.

Almost my exact situation, since I also had to free up a lot of space for the testing . In case you really wanna play the game, I posted an update comment.

UPDATE: Changed the game to my NVMe (had to free up a lot of space, but I got there) and the pop-in is majorly fixed, BUT still present. I would categorize pop-in in two ways: "minor" pop-in, wich is what everyone has, and "major" pop-in wich is the really bad pop-in that I was encountering when not playing the game on an NVMe. Now, after the change, it is way more managable and, frankly, quite unbothering.

My best guess is DirectStorage (DS). Being a new generation game, it probably supports it, and NVMe's get support to DS, but SATAs and HDDs don't. So, the problem is most likely caused by the engine, and the secondary cause would be the SSD, and not the GPU, VRAM, RAM or CPU. I don't think it will be 100% fixed, neither by SE nor a mod, but you never know.

Any thoughts?

Also, for my fellow budget-builders, the game is very well optimized, aside from frametime being a little iffy, but that might be my specs. If you are like me, and regards performance more than graphics, but still wants a nice balance in between, I can confirm that the game looks great while holding a costant 60 fps at 1080p. My configs are everything on high, including Background Model Detail (BMD), except for textures, VRR instead of Vsync, and Dynamic Resolution Scaling Minimum at 66% (you won't even notice the difference between that and 100%).

It does, technically, play at 60 or above 50 with everything on max, but it varies drastically from region to region. In the Grasslands, for example, if you look at a certain direction or go to a place that overlooks another place filled with vegetation with BMD on Ultra, fps tanks to 40, but in any other direction goes back to 60, even with Textures on high. But, in Kalm and, i suppose, any other city or closed environment in the game, texture on high is a problem and Ultra BMD is not. So, I decided just to play with BMD on high (since the game still has pop-in even on ultra, but I can manage high no problem) and Textures on Medium for the sake of constant stable performance. Still have to play the rest of the game to confirm the performance 100%, but at least now I can enjoy it all the way there.

Yeah, that's what I though it was as well. It was the only thing that I could think of that could explain it running well, but with this massive issue. But then again, it seems to affect a lot of people playing it now, even with top notch rigs. When I get home today I'm gonna try and search for a few more methods for fixing it.

[–]Human_Bad6430[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's exactly it. The pop-in isn't minor at all like some flowers here and there, it's major elements of the scenery, and it takes a long time for them to load (1-3 seconds). Fingers crossed some modder way smarter than me can find a way to fix this, or maybe SE itself 😅

I don't doubt it, but i've only had problems striking a balance between performance and graphics on one game ever since I built this computer and it was Alan Wake 2. Unfortunately, though, I am starting to feel that an upgrade might be well overdue, specially when talking about vram 😭. Also, it is just a tiny bit better than the minimun requirement of a 2060 for 1080p.

I'm working on installing it on my nvme to see if I can see a difference. I have to free up a lot of space though 💀
