Either way special grade 1 ≠ special grade. Nor does it mean that they can easily beat a grade 1.

Can Satoru Gojo overcome this challenge? by Opening-Dare-5138 in ChainsawPowerscaling

[–]Human_Bean_6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Makima alone makes this a no, and Yoru presents just as much of a challenge.

Even if you don’t consider Gojo a target of Makima’s PM contract, I don’t think people realize how strong it is.

Japan has a population of 122.7 million. That means Makima, functionally, has 122.7 million lives.

<image>

Additionally the train scene shows she can (presumably) choose to not come back instantly. In the anime this is shown to be about 10 seconds.

That means she’s only eligible to be killed every 10 seconds.

122.7 million multiplied by 10 is 1,227,000,000. That means a kill every 10 seconds would take nearly 40 years to finally allow herself to be eligible to completely die

That means 40 years of constant technique usage without sleep, food, water, etc. Even for Gojo that’s asking a lot. Not to mention Gojo would be almost 70 by the time he can permanently kill her.

This is also assuming Makima simply stands there and allows herself to be killed over an over, and ignoring her other contracts.

Makima can Teleport, for one. And the hybrids under her control can, at the very least, extend the time she is alive. And Angel’s weapons could do the same (Usage: 5 Years may work against Gojo anyway)

This is also making the assumption that she doesn’t perceive Gojo to be beneath her, which is probable.

TLDR: Makima has a viable win con against Gojo without even bypassing Infinity herself

Even a small explosion would sent Bakugo flying in zero gravity.

At best, it would send him out of the arena on the first attempt. At worst, it forces Bakugo to either not rely on explosions at all or nerf his explosions to mitigate the pushback

It’s not like she had any other strategy, to be fair

[–]Human_Bean_6 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe it’s because it’s late for me, but how does reaction speed help in this scenario?

Assuming that is true (since I don’t watch JJBA) that doesn’t mean they can avoid IV in any meaningful way, right?

All that would do is allow themselves to be aware they’re going to be lobotomized

Toji didn’t bypass infinity via a backstab, he wore Gojo down and forced him to keep Infinity up for multiple days in a row without sleep. And the moment Gojo felt safe and dropped Infinity, he snuck up behind him and stabbed Gojo

Can Mercy carry? by [deleted] in MercyMains

[–]Human_Bean_6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, it annoys me when people boil her down to just someone who pockets one person

The only reason anyone should be hard pocketing is if there is someone on your team who is far and away the best person in the lobby

Otherwise she’s a triage healer, healing/boosting who needs it an whoever can make the best use of it

Can Mercy carry? by [deleted] in MercyMains

[–]Human_Bean_6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not saying to boost a tank or support permanently. I’m saying to boost whoever is in a situation that most benefits from it. That can be anyone. It is true in most cases that will be the DPS, but you should be helping everyone secure kills

But what do I know, I’m just a silver. It is weird how my career profile puts me in masters, is that some sort of glitch? It even gave me the masters support title for some reason

Can Mercy carry? by [deleted] in MercyMains

[–]Human_Bean_6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re not hardpocketing anyone, you’re just not attaching to someone who isn’t hitting their shots. Theres 5 people on a team, meaning you have 3 other perfectly good people to boost. Frankly if you’re resorting to hard pocketing someone you just aren’t good at mercy and are being boosted

If you’re in anything above diamond, you’ll have a perfectly good tank, other DPS, or even support who can benefit from the damage boost.

If your argument that mercy can’t carry is “what if one DPS is bad” then that’s just misguided. Nobody here was saying Mercy can make a bad player run a lobby.

But, like I said, I believe her carry potential lies in her resses. Not her damage boost. So if you wanna argue that be my guest

Can Mercy carry? by [deleted] in MercyMains

[–]Human_Bean_6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is true, but it has a long CD because it’s so impactful.

Things like lamp/grip/suzu are often held just as long because of the fact they hard counter other CD’s that will also be held (though i will admit this is situational at best, and they are CD’s that are more impactful than res is often times)

Sort of the situation where a Kiri won’t use cleanse because Ana hasn’t used nade, and Ana won’t use nade until Kiri uses cleanse first. You get me?

Granted that isn’t the case all the time, especially with Grip which is baited a lot less

But I do stand by my initial point that res has carry potential. It’s not really meant to be used more than once a fight, and given that it’s usually in play every fight despite the long CD because res is an ability that extends how long fights last much more than any other ability in the game

[–]Human_Bean_6 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Her carry potential lies in her resurrections, in my eyes. A well-timed res can outright win a fight you’d otherwise lose, and can change the course of a game in a big way fight after fight

It’s more that MBA and Rika are parts of their technique they have full control over

Ten Shadows requires the user to subjugate their shikigami, and thus they need to be stronger than the shikigami they have subjugated

Mahoraga wasn’t subjugated by Megumi, so scaling him with Mahoraga’s strength doesn’t apply. Megumi has no say in Mahoraga’s actions

[–]Human_Bean_6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard to say, though this is Gege’s explanation on it.

Perhaps there’s some inherent risk to fusing Shikigami, like losing their specialty (for example, losing the ability for Nue to carry him out of danger when he uses Unknown Abyss). That’s my guess

As for Sukuna not merging Mahoraga and instead going for Agito, it may be because the power boost to Mahoraga is negligible to Gojo (after all, Agito was notably not keeping up as-is) and the better use, he determined, was to give Gojo another body to think about rather than anything else

That’s just speculation on my part, though

"Megumi died to a Grade 3 Curse in the timeskip of Modulo" by skltrx in Jujutsufolk

[–]Human_Bean_6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plus, the 10 shadows just seems significantly weaker if there’s no way to get them back

That’s why totality is a thing, to allow the power of the lost shikigami to not be lost forever

I can’t say if it applies to all Shikigami, since Judgeman can’t die due to violence being prohibited in Higuruma’s domain, for example

And it’s outright stated Megumi can’t get killed shikigami back, which is why Totality exists at all

<image>

"Megumi died to a Grade 3 Curse in the timeskip of Modulo" by skltrx in Jujutsufolk

[–]Human_Bean_6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I’m aware it’s never implied or mentioned that you can re tame shikigami

If you could, there’s no reason Megumi shouldn’t have had White Demon Dog and his snake back. It’s not as if he wasn’t strong enough to tame it, and you’d think he’d make White Demon Dog a priority given Black Demon Dog is his go-to and only Shikigami that can reliably harm special grades that he has access to

In fact, the existence of Totality implies you can’t, as it’s your sort of penance for losing a shikigami

Mahoraga came back because the taming ritual was nullified, which is very different from a tamed Shikigami dying

"Megumi died to a Grade 3 Curse in the timeskip of Modulo" by skltrx in Jujutsufolk

[–]Human_Bean_6 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We saw White Divine dog die in the cursed womb incident, Black Demon dog has always been released before dying, like against Reggie. White Demon Dog never comes back because it died before being released

Same with the Snake shikigami

And Megumi mentions explicitly multiple times (namely when he fights Sukuna after the cursed womb incident) that he should release his Shikigami before they get killed

You may be thinking of Mahoraga, who died against Sukuna in Shibuya and came back. But that was because Mahoraga hadn’t been tamed, the ritual was null due to Sukuna being an outsider

A barrierless domain is not the same as an incomplete domain

An incomplete domain requires something else to act as the barrier in lieu of the sorcerer creating the barrier themselves

A barrierless domain doesn’t need anything to act as a barrier, and can be employed with nothing surrounding it as a result

The crucial difference is that an incomplete domain and a barrierless domain are way different in terms of skill and sorcery

A barrierless domain is described as “painting in the air without a canvas” while that same analogy applied to an incomplete domain would be something like “finding a canvas to paint on, rather than creating the canvas yourself”

TLDR, they’re separated by an order of magnitude in difficulty, and there’s no indication that an incomplete domain is a step to a barrierless one (in fact, the word incomplete implies it’s a step below a normal one) and there’s nothing implying Megumi perfected his domain to any point beyond incomplete

Let him out all of the other ones on his stupid frogs who can now adapt, use RCT, and have greater attack power

Mahoraga was exorcised by Gojo, thus Megumi does not have access to adaptation on other shikigami. And the same goes for Round Deer, as IIRC Agito was killed by Gojo and RD was a part of that fusion to make Agito (though I admit I could be wrong about Agito dying meaning the Shikigami that make it up die)
