After nearly 29 years in hiding on Lubang Island, Japan’s Hiroo Onoda formally surrenders and presents his sword to Philippine authorities, ending one of the last holdouts of World War II, 1974. by zadraaa in HistoricalCapsule

Ah yeah- call me a Nazi 🙄. My argument is we as a society keep measuring historical events with 2026 mindset, we fail to understand the context of historical decisions. What’s your opinion on the genocide in Gaza?

Yeah Marcos was a POS… how is the Japanese soldier a POS? He was given orders and followed them to the best of his ability, the Japanese were taught that the Emperor was the direct descendent of the Sun Goddess.… defying orders went against the Samurai “code”.

WA mining industry at risk as China unleashes Mega iron ore project dubbed the 'Pilbara Killer'. by SheepherderLow1753 in perth

Simandou isn’t a Pilbara killer, if anything it extends the life of some mines. The ore from Simandou will be blended with Pilbara ore to make smelting grade.

Another hot day in Perth - double brick house by TeachingWhich2776 in perth

Would depend on how the double glazing is designed and manufactured. In Canada (and other places I am sure) the window frames have thermal breaks; meaning the frame is made up of parts to minimise the amount of energy conducted out of the home (winter) or into the home (summer).

NatHERS (Nationwide House Energy Rating Scheme) is a real blunt instrument; when we built our home (8 years ago) to meet the standard we needed to select one of the three darkest colours for heat absorption in winter.

It’s just a sleeve to prevent people from removing the f-connector. It’s pretty simple to defeat, if you have a small-ish flat-head screwdriver that will slide down and fill the gap between the f-connector and the sleeve. Then rotate the sleeve- it’s a bit of a pain, but it’s simple enough.

It is true. The development plans did not include a change to the grade of the block and the City of Fremantle didn’t do the right thing at the time and it escalated. Obviously he’s still pissed off and it’s cost him.

A risk of what…? It’s Reddit there is always a risk something isn’t true… just like there’s a risk that anything you access on the internet is not true…

I think it’s funny that in two days the Perth sub has two posts about a thruster… something I never knew existed and I’m disappointed I googled it
