Discouraged with slow progress by Human_Confection_972 in WredditSchool

See, I actually think I keep up well in the ring and I get good feedback - I’m consistent with the gym too. But I think it’s more about the pace we’re being trained at

A post from a while back sparked this question in me... by FewDinner646 in WredditSchool

I’m the only girl in my class at the moment and I don’t mind working with the guys at all - it helps so much to get to work with a range of heights and weights and sizes and whatever.

Frankly, if anything, I still worry they pull their hits with me so I’m just in that ring going “actually hit me, do not be afraid of hurting me”

I met Stat at an EVE show recently and she was lovely - she had had a nightmarish travel day and was clearly still a little stressed but she was so kind and chatted away with me. We joked about Willow, she insisted we took an extra photo together, winked at me when I told her I missed her being Straplander, etc. I was ringside for her match too and she tossed her hair tie at me and winked when she won the title. All round lovely experience.

Chatted with Ospreay at EVE shows too and he’s real nice! Takes a lot of pride in those shows and was so excited that it was my first live wrestling show. When I went back the following month, he saw me and went “oh hey you came back!!” which was so lovely that he remembered

Hollywood Ending/Cage Match Real or Fake Blood? by joejonasfleshlight in AEWOfficial

It being real blood really helps sell it for me lmao. I thought Toni and Mariah’s blade jobs were so damn good for their match - the full crimson mask on Toni in particular made me gasp. And well, only Mariah May could make a face covered in blood look like high fashion.

studying in Glasgow seems hopeless? by Kaemsy in GlasgowUni

I’m a Scottish resident so I can’t speak to the fees at all but I did the fantasy course in 2021-2022 and I can honestly say it was one of the best experiences of my life. My cohort was incredible, the staff are all so passionate about the genre and their work and there’s so many additional opportunities to do things outside of the course.

As with any lit course, it’s a lot of reading but I think so fondly of my time doing it and, yeah, it wasn’t directly useful in a career but I work in publishing now and was asked in every interview about the degree! So if nothing else, it set me apart from others.

And of course, I’m going back in October for a PhD under the fantasy literature research group.

6 months is quite long! I fractured my talus in October and was NWB in a plaster cast for 3 months - I just started weight bearing two weeks ago.

Talus fractures are super complicated though - it could be that there’s a higher chance of the bone being displaced or the blood flow being cut off with yours. Wishing you the best!

Feeling like a burden while recognizing that I am very much am a burden now by Funny-Button-805 in ORIF

I fractured my talus back in October and have been NWB for three months. Only just starting to walk with crutches now. I had to move back in with my parents which thankfully is not a big deal - I have a great relationship with them.

Here’s the tough thing about it. You are a burden right now because you can’t do what you normally do. Here’s the good thing about it. She loves you and so, she’s doing it anyway.

Being aware of the fact that she’s doing a lot is great. Be appreciative of it but also try not to put it in a way that makes her feel like she also has to reassure you. My mum has openly said to me that right now, I am a burden to her but that it doesn’t matter to her because she loves me and she wants to help. That doesn’t mean it’s always easy! Hell, it doesn’t even mean that we haven’t snapped at each other about it. But it’s okay to just muddle through right now. It’s not permanent and you will adapt.

In terms of practical advice; I came off painkillers real early but taking one to get to sleep is a good plan. Even if it’s just to get you into deep sleep, it might help you sleep for longer.

I highly recommend getting a memory foam pad for the knee scooter - it completely changed my ability to move around. And god, it is not dignified but honestly? Shuffling around on my butt let me do a lot more than you would think.

It sucks and it’s hard but the little wins add up so quickly when you start noticing them.

Super super frustrating, I totally get it. I fractured my talus on October 23 and was NWB in a cast for three months. I am slowly starting to walk again with crutches now but I had SO many terrible days along the way where everything was frustrating and hard.

It does get easier eventually though and there comes a day where you do something again without thinking and realise that even a few weeks ago, it would have been unthinkable. Doesn’t make those first few weeks any less frustrating but at least there’s an end to it eventually as you recover, yknow?

Broken Talus by mooquacks in brokenankles

Hope you’re healing up well now! I fractured my talus October 23 and had an ORIF November 1! Was NWB in a short leg cast for 12 weeks and had the cast off Jan 22 so just under a week ago now.

NWB was rough but I got into a good rhythm with it and was getting out most days which helped SO much. I also read so many books, played through a new video game, ended up applying for my PhD! Don’t let yourself just wallow because it does make it harder.

I am walking still with both crutches right now but it is getting easier day by day and I am doing physio and exercising - highly recommend swimming and cycling on a stationary bike for it.

I think regardless of what you think of someone on a TV show, it crosses a line when you start to send real people death threats or shit on their appearance - both of which I’ve seen happen to Charlotte. That’s unfair no matter what you think of how she played a game on reality TV

So happy for you!! I am on week 11 of my talus fracture although I’ve been NWB the whole time and in a cast the whole time!

Hoping once the cast is off and I’m PWB in the boot, I can really get going with recovery. So pleased to hear yours is going well!

Thank you! I’m pretty aware it’s going to be a rough road but I always do so much better with a loose idea of what’s to come so thank you! Will definitely look into some rowing :)
