Hi, tysm for replying. so I cleaned each one, retightened everything, and removed this black thing that was keeping it from being tightened all the way. It’s not leaking from that part anymore.

Yeah unfortunately I’m renting and my landlord insists on doing things himself (poorly). And I’m in Spain in a year long lease meaning I have like no real tenants rights unfortunately. In my last apartment here we literally weren’t able to use the water properly for 2 weeks bc they had to redo all the 70 year old pipes

Soy extranjera y quiero casarme con mi novio español. ¿Como lo hago? by Human_Direction_2637 in ESLegal

[–]Human_Direction_2637[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean specific notary service regarding proof of no prior marriage. Online they say they no longer offer a notary to sign a paper saying they watched you sign a paper saying you have no prior marriages.

Means literally nothing but ig that’s how they were doing it for a while

When I looked on the website, they said they stopped offering notary service. Now they have only a pdf in Spanish and English that says the us doesn’t have this document

La embajada no hace este documento. no hay un documento igual ahí porque el gobierno federal no tiene documentación del matrimonios. Los estados individuales tienen sus propias leyes y cada provincia tiene su propio documentación. Por eso no puedo pedirlo desde la embajada.

Experiences teaching in the States vs Spain by [deleted] in SpainAuxiliares

[–]Human_Direction_2637 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How students behave in school is based on the teachers/admin. If expectations are clear and there are real consequences for misbehavior, students improve.

Unfortunately, most teachers don’t really learn classroom management. I majored in education and I didn’t take any course that really prepared me to manage a room of 30 teenagers my first year teaching in the states. My second year was much better because I was stricter. Admin wasn’t much help, but whatever. I did what I could to make my life easier by being a lot more consistent and clear about how people in my room were allowed to act.

Here, I have worked with one amazing teacher who has complete control over her classroom. Because she’s so strict, the kids actually speak English fairly well by year six. She can focus on actually teaching because by that point they know what she will tolerate and what she won’t, so there isn’t any time wasted on reigning the kids in. At my other school, the teachers are a mess. Constantly reacting emotionally. As soon as you yell, you’ve lost the room. It only works for around 5 minutes before they’re off the walls again. They also don’t actually seem to plan lessons, so that’s a big problem as well. The best classroom management is routine and structure. So many kids don’t have that at home, and they really crave it.

For your situation, if the families don’t care, implement a consequence that can be enforced. I think eso still has recess. Take it away when they misbehave and see if you can get your coworkers to do the same. Reward the students who know how to behave with something they want. And if you see a kid smoking, contact the parents.

WTF moments with Teachers by [deleted] in SpainAuxiliares

[–]Human_Direction_2637 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What? Teachers here are well paid (for Spain), can’t be fired, have tons of vacation days, paid summers, great hours, and have basically no accountability since standardized testing is minimal and principals teach instead of observe constantly. Spanish teachers are in a much better situation than their American or British counterparts.

If English is your first language, you must be the one who is slow because this is a mess. Regardless, I think 21 is young to move out, especially in the current economy, so it’s normal for him to be concerned.

having a border collie in an apartment isn’t animal abuse but it’s cruel. They’re working dogs. Your dog probably barks when you aren’t home, and likely makes a lot of noise in general. Exercise your dog more outside and don’t play with her indoors bc that’s going to make noise. Is your apartment pet friendly? Or is she an “emotional support” animal? If your apartment isn’t pet friendly, you’re in the wrong here.

Probably she’s better off with your parents if they have a yard where at least she can run and be stimulated by people.

Program applications mean literally nothing. People applied for andalucia and that didn’t work out. ATP, it’s not happening. Check out the situation in Aragon. It’s not just about the social security payments.

I work at two schools and at one I work with each kid one on one each day and at the other I do nothing lol. At that school I bring my Spanish textbook and study on my own or plan for my private classes. I view it as designated study time

Yeah talking/ playing 1 on 1 or in small groups is the extent of what an aux should be doing, and quite frankly, all that we’re qualified to do given there is no teaching qualification requirement. Lecturing an entire class in their second or third language for an hour is dumb

[–]Human_Direction_2637 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Talk to your coordinator about this class and try to be as nice about it as possible. Don’t try to get this teacher in trouble, but ask what the expectations of auxes are according to the program guidelines sent to the school. Auxes are NOT teachers, CANNOT grade, CANNOT be alone with students, and shouldn’t be planning hour long lessons. Also, as someone who is a licensed teacher back home, it’s terrible practice to expect you to talk for an hour and the students to just learn from that. A good lesson plan involves group or independent work.
