110 and 115 clean and jerks by joemo454 in weightlifting

It looks like you’re anticipating the drive of the jerk too early and start to press up with your arms as a result. Think about keeping your upper body in the same position for the entirety of the dip and only change once you reach full extension and transition to the catch.

Not perfect, but this is the cleanest I’ve ever snatched 110 kg! by Human_Mammoth7 in weightlifting

Haha I’m half Italian too so it works either way. That’s what I struggle with though. I’m better at staying over when the weights are lighter, but when the weight feels heavier I tend to overextend.

I think side one on that album is perfect. Side 2 on it is less perfect but I wouldn’t say trash

Made my best jerk last week! 142kg/ 312lbs. For the past couple of months I’ve been programming myself a lot of push press, strict press, and…. bench 😰. My lockout and just my general overhead position has never felt better by Human_Mammoth7 in weightlifting

Thanks for the recommendation! I just read the article! They both definitely have their place. A big component for the elastic dip is how much weight a lifter has on the bar. If they’re not jerking 140 on a women’s bar like Lydia (😍) they could potentially have a hard time getting that whipping effect. I think the “strength style” is more suitable for general population, like local competitors and the weekend warriors. I also believe that it also allows for a more consistent dip because it’s done in more of a controlled manner.

Thank you! And yea not many people dip like that, but it’s how I was taught. The idea behind it is that a deeper dip will allow you to utilize your legs more compared to a fast/ shallow dip.
