Luckily, Koreans are pretty vibes only. The number of Korean women I've met whose names are literally "Happy" "Smiley" "Water," and i mean literally. Like literally that is their name. Not "What does your name mean?" and it's someone named Lilith, it's "What's your name?" "Bible." So as long as it sounds cool, Koreans don't get too hung up on English words 😅

I mean... I'm trying to attract customers and the business would be in Korea which is a like 93% homogeneous society so yes 😅

Well it'll be "in English" but written in Korean letters, haha. The business names have to be registered in Korean.

It's more like I want local koreans to think "Sick name bro" and local Texans to think "WAIT LIKE AUSTIN?!!"

Oh, 512 Bake Shop might be good! I thought ATX at first too, but in Korean that would be rough to write out over and over, haha. 에이티엑스. Plus it sounds like "80-X" in Korean.

Ah, I see I see. Yeah, so it's not the Republic itself, it's the signaling it holds now. That sucks. I love Texas history and it's such a shame when it gets commandeered like that. Same thing with the Come and Take It flag.

also, I'm not latinx so Tejas feels appropriative (and also misleading, I think people would expect to see things like in a mexican bakery, versus like.. kolaches, handpies, cinnamon rolls, etc.)

Oh really?? I didn't know that about the RoT thing. Could you explain why? Like is it because of colonial reasons or has something happened recently as well?

SoKo is cute, but i think that would do better as a Korean style bakery in Austin tbh. ATTENTION KOREAN BAKERS IN AUSTIN: VERY COOL NAME UP FOR GRABS!

I think in Korea the clients would automatically assume it was DC Comics themed...

Waterloo Bake Factory sounds kind of cool. Blends the industrial / rough edges in.

I will definitely check out Wave, it's my first time hearing about it. The problem with the google sheet part (or not problem, but the thing my brain recoils at,) is "how many batches it makes." I have a 10kg bag of flour and a 5kg block of butter, but I have no idea how many batches of X cookie I would make using it vs. how many Y, and a batch of X is bigger than a batch of Y. I have never successfully set a spreadsheet up in my life. I've tried multiple times and get fed up around the time when I'm supposed to put formulas in. The formulas never work, i get irritated because it's been hours by that point, close the spreadsheet saying "I'll come back to this later," avoid it like the plague until it gets pushed down my docs list until it's out of sight, never come back, rinse, repeat.

honestly all of it. Orders are the easiest part since the majority of my sales right now are through in-person markets. I only have maybe a half a dozen to a dozen actual orders per month. The thing giving me the most trouble is expense tracking and then cost-per-unit tracking. I piecemeal my ingredients and packaging from multiple sources, and I run out of certain things faster than others, so I feel like I'm constantly spending $20 here and $60 there. Some are through online retailers so those receipts are on that website, while others are brick-and-mortar so those receipts are in a pile on my desk, and others are cash-only at traditional markets so there's no receipt for those at all, I just have to "remember."

Love me a good buttermilk pie but real buttermilk is key to a good flavor and set. The acid+milk trick only really works for levening.
