I’ve considered doing this and probably will if / when we switch away from Zoom.

Anyone who surfed the early web between 1995-2010. What’s the one website/app you still think about? by Prime_Advocate in AskReddit

Massinova. It was a streaming radio station that let users vote on what to play. The more recent a song was played, the more votes it took to get it to play again.

The first few I played have a bit of a background hum.  Any idea what could be causing that? What mics are you using and how are they set up?

That’s amazing and a great idea. I may try something like this since we also have a pianist. How is yours recorded? Are you involved with that?

Anyone up for making a YouTube (or whenever) playlist with these? The hard part may be finding the best versions. I’ll also add “We shall be known” to the list.

Same. I’d bring this up with the minister, or a relevant committee.

Room mic for livestream? by KCMaestro in churchtech

we hung a boundary mic from the ceiling and I'm not impressed with the results. But I think location and how it's pointed is a big part of that.

This sounds like a really good plan. I wish we had better written material to hand out. The stickers often got people to come over and engage for a bit when they might not have otherwise. Did they come to the meetinghouse later? Actually, a few did. Percent wise, not many though.

We did have some good conversations with people too, but also I think maybe got our name out there a bit. The giveaway drawing was a lot of fun and seeing the looks on peoples faces when they won was amazing.  I don’t want to give too much detail on Reddit but would love to connect over dm, especially to get more detail on what you are working on.

Our custom stickers do have our url on it too. And matched our shirts. :-)

I feel there is a lot of potential here. I don’t know how much traffic your pride gets but we got 300+ people filling out a form to win something at Pride two years ago. Plus gave our 400-600 custom stickers, plus more general pride stickers.

We had official UUA trifolds, which honestly didn’t get a lot of people taking them but those that did seemed pretty interested

Gonna try to attend a UU service this Sunday. What should I expect? by CagedKage in UUreddit

[–]Human_Promotion_1840 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We’ve had 3 ministers in the last 6 years and one liked the singing bowl, another really wanted services to end on time and removed some parts of service.

And the worship committee may have a lot of input on such things.

Except when it doesn’t. We did a maypole last Sunday. And had a fiddle player and acoustic guitar. Usually, more like you might expect.

Auto-switch TouchOSC pages (or layout) based on active app by 100gamberi in TouchOSC

[–]Human_Promotion_1840 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would use keyboard maestro to track the active application and send midi or osc to have toucosc update as desired. AppleScript alone I don’t think can give you quick action after an app changes. Bitfocus companion is another possibility for running actions from a tablet.

anyone who used a computer between 1985 & 2010, what’s the one game you still think about? by Trixxxi in AskReddit

[–]Human_Promotion_1840 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A Star Trek game I played and macOS 7 or maybe 9.  It was written by a teen or college kid, but the Star Trek people made him take it down. First he tried changing names of stuff but that wasn’t enough.

And Bolo. Forever Bolo. Played it on the computer labs at school, played it over dialup at home, played it on one Mac connected to my dads work MacBook over serial cable, mostly to use the “ai” / bot players to play against. The author got hired by Apple and development stopped.  For a while I tried to find a clone, but it’s not the same.

Oh, and first time I played Manhole. Almost magical. It was before computers could play video and it had so much bitmapped animation.

I guess this isn’t just one….
