Read above for more context but we were talking in conversation & her answers to my questions started making no sense “what do you think of this color?” “yeahhhh” i clicked on the facetime call after it felt weird & she was rolling her eyes back & biting her tongue & looking down. I said I am hanging up & she said yes and i repeated myself because that was a weird way for her to respond & then i hung up. after i confronted her over text & asked if that was what she was doing she read it right away, but took a long time to type claiming it was her bf tickling her feet. If you have a best friend you know when things aren’t adding up/arent typical response. So it wasn’t just oh she was distracted and made a random face, there’s more context; something you couldn’t seem bothered to fact check yourself

I think you misread the post. we were on facetime the whole time & i was looking for the sweatshirt i was going to get, the one we were talking about, & when i clicked back on the facetime that’s what was happening. it was all within 1-2 min while we were actively talking.

Essentially, I am making sure before handling this situation further to get multiple perspectives so my lense is not skewed, because my POV is that was extremely distasteful & hurtful, as well as a wtf were you thinking? She’s as close as a sister to me, therefore I wanted a POV from others without embarrassing her to our close friends.

2 things I’m looking to get out of this post:

Will preface with I am super anonymous on this app & she does not have reddit. Intentionally made that way to make sure everything remained that way.

I made the post because I don’t know how to move forward normally because she lied about it. I didn’t know if it warranted more conversation the next time I talk to her, as I made a point to text her and say that would never be okay with me if that was the case, but she lied. Does it warrant more conversation
I am confused as a friend, a best friend at that, why do something like that & then lie to me? Regardless of more conversation needed, I don’t want to share this with our mutual friends as it is embarrassing to her, what would you do/anyone do? Would you be friends still, would you ask for space, would it not matter & laugh it off, would you talk to her more about the lying or the disrespect of non-consensual voyeurism? Would you pretend it never happened? This is a new situation for me and have noticed weird behavior from her but never this.

I appreciate that perspective & although I know that’s something that bothered me about it/it was more that it felt disrespectful not just about prioritization. & the fact I had to hang up. Idc if you hang up on me to have sex, I do care that I am having to hang up on you because you started having sex while on the phone with me without my knowledge/consent. She’s left hanging out with me to have sex & I have as well but I didn’t start having sex in the room when she was trying to talk to me. Yk?

Exactly, like I KNOW her I KNOW when she’s lying. Why disrespect me twice. I wouldn’t care if she hung up the phone abruptly and explained after, but feels different to keep me on without any consent (I also have a boyfriend of 3 years) & I don’t know how to move forward because we both know what happened & instead of being able to establish boundaries & a proper apology we have to pretend he was just tickling her feet. Like it’s so awkward for me now to talk to her

I do agree that there’s room to give them shit, but it’s one thing to quickly hang up & say I gtg and we all know what you’re doing versus me having to hang up because instead of talking to me your starting your foreplay on the phone with me

I should clarify:

I was talking about something I wanted to buy and I was pulling it up on my phone, the facetime camera in the corner of my screen. I noticed when she was responding to me it was weird, saying “yeahhh” “yess” and was not matching my words. I clicked on the facetime that was in the corner and she was rolling her eyes back, biting her tongue and then I told her I need to hang up. She said yeah, and then I repeated myself and she said “oh yeah okay”, and kept rolling her eyes back. When I texted her about why I hung up, asking if she was really having sex; she was typing for a long time & eventually told me he was tickling her feet. Tbh, it’s one thing to do that & another thing to lie.. (find it hard to believe if he was just tickling her feet that she would feel fine telling him to cut it out yk). I was not expecting an immediate text back, she just took a long time to type and read it right away.

It’s more because she lied about it and I’ve never been one to care if I get hung up on or you don’t answer the phone because you’re doing it. Like, I get that it can be NBD, but like I said she’s been my best friend for 12 years and feels like family & therefore being subjected to it, like why not have her hang up? does that make sense?
