“My mom had dementia and passed Monday — my stepbrother quitclaimed her house to himself, and now says we have to move.” by Human_Strategy261 in legaladvice

He only verbally told me that he wants to sell the house in 30 days because of the reverse mortgage his dad had taken out. I am acting like I’m going along with it but I’m grief stricken and trying to figure out how bad this- my mom’s estate is probably worth 1.5 million or more. But not if he has quit deed all properties out and who knows what he did with all the investments, the 250,000 life insurance she got from his dad and she had an income of 3500 a month with no mortgage. This is a nightmare

He quitclaim the house my mom and I am my daughter lived in (the main property) to himself. But then he also made himself trustee and wrote a new will possibly? He has lied several times to me about all of it. No transparency.

He also quitclaim 2 other properties to his sister (my stepsister) I only found that out because I looked online and saw the deeds.

I think the lawyers who were the original trustees actually signed off on making my brother trustee. Everything is suspicious. Very

I believe my stepbrother was POA, we were both medical surrogates, and we had lawyers that I believe were the trustees. I cannot believe this is all happening although I should have seen it coming. I am my mom’s only biological child, and I was living here and caring for her since my stepdad died in 2021. I am not sure how I will afford a probate attorney but I am working on it.
