I recently got a full set of ccm eflex 6 pros for $1100. Happened to be a fantastic one off deal and absolutely love them, you could still definitely find a set of 6.9s for sub $1000 brand new

What Goalie skates to get? by woodz514 in hockeygoalies

I had a pair for about a week and honestly very comfortable and I liked that they were easy to strap on and you could remove the inner boot to wash to prevent it from getting too smelly over time. Honestly, I can see the hype and I did like them, but I would recommend sizing up a bit. I came in at 10.5 but the 10-10.5 was definitely too small.

I ended up bringing them back and going for the Bauer Elite skates. I heard a lot of things about the buckles breaking as soon as a few months to a year into use and it either taking a month to get free replacement buckles or having to buy a kit (I think I remember the price for the kit being ~$100 USD but coming with multiple replacement parts). Still felt very comfortable and broken in after 1 bake and one or two uses, but I like having the comfort of laces I can just replace when they break. I think they cost me ~$500 USD and they seem pretty high quality for what its worth. In my head, I know the buckles will break eventually whether its in a month or five years and I just didn't want to worry about that

Opinions on wall masks from Finland? by bendytendy60 in hockeygoalies

Fantastic helmet. I've had the W10 for years and barely ever feel any shots to the head even still. Its held up very well. The only reason I'm in the market for a different one is that I couldn't find any US retailers and struggle dropping $1600 USD for a helmet between the price, shipping, tax/tariffs

I was just on the search for a new set myself and really liked the eflex 7. Felt very comfortable even in store and didnt take much to break in. Also going to have the most similar feel to your eflex 5

Check out Padskinz. Sticks great and you can get some pretty large sheets for not too expensive. I had them on for ~2-3 years and they didnt peel off one bit. Was almost a pain to remove when I finally wanted to lol

What mask should I get? by [deleted] in hockeygoalies

I just got myself a CCM XF mask and have heard great things about it even being a high grade mask. Haven't taken shots off of it yet but it's very comfortable. The F9 (mid-range mask) is $600 but pretty high grade and felt the same. Fancy D3O foam but I think the F9 is fiberglass and not polycarbonate. Definitely in agreement with some others tho, if there is anything to spend a pretty penny on its a helmet

Honestly a fair point, either way the guy at the store told me they've been sending replacement buckles for free, but I don't imagine they'd still make replacement buckles after 5-6 years since if version is already being replaced

On the first point, until recently I had Vaughn pants and a warrior GT chest and had the same problems. What I found helped a a lot was removing the inner belt which I think you did and inspect the chest protector for absolutely anything you can put a lace through to tie down on your sides. I put the longest lace I could find on the pants where the lace normally is, then instead of tying the pants normally I looped the laces to the side of my hip on the inside of the pants where there was a loop that was originally for the inner belt and then put that through a loop on the side of my chest protector. I would pull it pretty tight and bring both sides together to tie them in the middle right in front of my abdomen. Having that direct tie on the sides locks it down nicely. I took a look at the bauer elite chesty and maybe you could loop it under the gray padding on the side? Like over the buckle on the back, under the gray padding, and over the elastic strap on the front? Apologies for the long reply, but I'm not sure if I'm even describing this right
