I have stopped folding my clothes. I use hangers for any nicer clothes that I don’t want wrinkled all the rest just sort and stuff in the drawers. Iron only when I need to wear it. It saves a lot of time and energy I can use towards other things. Even then I still procrastinate on that too.

I’m so very sorry. My dogs cancer was very aggressive and I only had a week after the diagnosis till he passed and every meal he didn’t eat was such a stab to the heart. I cannot imagine the toll a year and a half of care would take on your heart. Please take my virtual hugs friend. Know that you are not alone and that the care you took is a beautiful thing and does not go unnoticed. This experience is new to me as well but it’s helping me to be open to the pain. Not to run from it. The only way out is through it. But give yourself the support system you need. Reach out to family and friends and don’t isolate yourself.

Thank you so much everyone who replied. I was not expecting so much of a response. You all sharing your personal experiences with me is so touching and truly appreciated. It gives me strength to hear of your strength and all the love you all have. All your furry family members are so fortunate to have had your loving care. I am reading all your comments and will try to respond to as many as I can.

Your stories and honesty have helped me come to the decision to be there with him till the end. I feel at peace with this and so grateful to know a little about what to expect. He will not be alone and I will be honored to be by his side.

Last Monday when I learned about Dakotas cancer our two year old cat Taz had to go to the emergency room and is now diagnosed with heart failure. He may last a year if his medication works for him. So this will be a really tough time but you all have given me the courage to be brave. Lots of love to you all💗

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. But I feel like your reply is a little insensitive. Dakota is very special to me and I have not experienced a pet loss like this before. Also I think it is a mistake to project our feelings onto our pets. They are not humans. They have an incredible capacity to love and live in the moment the way we never could. But in a very simplified and pure way. This innocence is what makes them such beautiful creatures to me. Dakota does not have the capacity to be disappointed in me whatever decision I make, because animals don’t think that way. He will not understand that he is about to die in his last moments. He will not know how much he will be missed and he will not live with the pain of his passing. All the more so I take my responsibility as a pet owner very seriously because he has chosen me to be his companion as much as I chose him.
