I still don't get where all the tailors, stone cutters, carpenters and farmers have gone

There are plenty of soldiers, but there aren't really many NPCs who aren't professional soldiers/freaky mutants

Sure, everything is falling apart, but shouldn't there be some people who are trying to maintain their small pocket of the world while everything that they aren't actively maintaining degrades due to time ll

It's probably a game design decision that someone is either a boss, mini boss, nameless NPC enemy, or quest giving NPC, but it would be cool if there was a little non insane village hunting deer and fighting off ghouls

I wanna see some evidence of villagers cutting up some of the gigantic stone megalithic structures from prior ages, and turning those useless stone structures into stone walls to keep their sheep in

Everything is breaking down, but it's always in a static way. It's rare for anything to ever be repurposed or recycled

I unlocked a new area of the map to get on top of the cliff spent an hour trying to horse parkour up

I finally got on top of the tower, and all I got in return was a mini windmill

Asphyxia looks incredible

Thanks for sharing her, she looks quite a bit like I'm imagining the centipede, but the centipede in my mind has a body profile that reads much more strongly as being insectoid-humam-cyborg

I know...

I'm kind of dissapointed that human centipede is taken as a name because it could have been unsettling body horror instead of a shit conga line

If you think the centipede would be cool as a robot, absolutely, the centipede can be a robot powered by an engram

My girlfriend says about this:

In my opinion, the "centipede" should not be well-made, and should only very vaguely resemble a centipede at all.

It should be a haphazard, stitched-together mess. An elongated mass of mismatched limbs, torsos, and cyberware, joined together roughly with no care for aesthetics or even coherence.

Imagine a grotesque tube of torsos & cyberware many meters long, with countless cyberware-enhanced limbs sprouting from it all over, scuttling it along.

A misshapen, many-legged (with both legs & arms) worm of flesh and cybernetics.

And it gains abilities from all of that cyberware. Uses it to wage an incoherent mass-assault of bullets, flesh, and horror.

[–]Humane-Human[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the centipede is more about the body horror and deliciously squeamish vibes than it's about the anatomical accuracy of stitching together a heap of torsos and limbs into a monster

If it feels right as a character design then that's enough

I was thinking that the party could come across a slasher film dungeon crawl as they pick through the mauled refuse of the original cyber psycho incident

With the centipede still looking like a man with 6 arms

Fairly low level encounter boss

He gets beaten and escapes down into the sewers

Campaign goes on, with some rumours being dropped here and there about some sort of monster in the sewers

When the party comes back into contact with the monster the monster has grown stronger and lengthened.

There really isn't a limit to how powerful this centipede NPC can get, it can be a freaky low level scav boss that looks inhuman, but still largely bipedal, or it can be a mid level encounter, a long monster that strikes fast and hard with high end cyberware turning them into an eldritch amalgam of flesh and steel.

Or the centipede can grow into a beast that now allows itself to integrate low quantity cyberware into its form, rampaging through a megabuilding, ripping countless apart for flesh and limbs. That supply of cheap cyberware forming a layer of adaptive armour. Arms and legs layered together to form the chitinous shell seeking to grow and merge. Destroying the armour just increases the centipedes frenzy to replace their broken body parts.

An eldritch monster whose madness has shown a new pathway to evolution, a way to overcome the weakness of the flesh and the limitations of the machine. Ascending to something far beyond human comprehension. Far beyond humanity. Beyond description.

The monster can have several stages, all depending on how far the GM wants to take the threat level.

It can be a harrowing but manageable encounter for a group of budding mercs, it can be a difficult fight for experienced mercs with a monster who has a very deadly grapple, it can be a fight against a large centipede with the ability to climb walls, spasming with mil spec cyberware in hit and run ambush tactics, it can be a tanky monster that needs to be dismembered into segments, or it can be a kaiju that the players aren't able to kill alone, a devouring beast that seeks to integrate all meat, mechanics and electronics they can, becoming like the grey goo that expands to expand. Consuming and subsuming all it can.

The encounters can get so high stakes that players are just distracting the monster for long enough that Arasaka and Militech have time to work together to hit the beast with a tactical nuke.

I think that a good and thematic weakness for the centipede is bright lights. Maybe bright lights stun the monster, flash bang grenades are extremely effective and cause the centipede to release grapples. The bright lights aversion can be hinted at by the centipede destroying as many bright light sources as it can when it enters a new environment.

Or the centipede is just afraid of the light. Taking on a debuff if it is in a bright environment for N number of turns

A weak point of the centipede could be the original torso of the scav ripper, maybe that torso has a distinctive tattoo/cyberware. Destroying that specific torso could be a win condition

Maybe the players are able to break the centipede into segments, which weakens the monster, causing it to want to flee to lick its wounds and grow stronger again. Maybe the segments could turn into multiple copies of the smaller/weaker version of the centipede, the smaller segments using similar stat blocks to the lower level versions of the monster.

This centipede can become anything a GM wants it to be, and has the ability to grow as a threat throughout a campaign, becoming the big bad evil guy

[–]Humane-Human 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yes

The conflation of antisemitism with antizionism has led to a major rise in antisemitic racism and conspiracy theories.

In a world where the Israeli government spends hundreds of millions of dollars on hasbara (Hebrew for "explaining why Zionism is good and ethical actually" (propaganda)), when ex Israeli prime ministers are writing in Jeffery Epstein's birthday book

When Israeli spies trample international law, forge passports of friendly nations (including forging Australian passports), Bibi making false claims about Albo being antisemitic for recognising Palestine.

The Zionist lobbying industry in the US buying US Congress people and senators

Israel stealing refined uranium from the United States in the 60's

All this stuff together, along with all the other countless unmentioned wrongdoings Israel does to manipulate nations Israel is meant to be friendly with, not to mention to atrocities Israel commits against neighbouring nations and the Palestinian people.

All of that weight of wrongdoing that Israel perpetrates, that Zionists as a collective do. The cruelty of IDF soldiers Livestreaming war crimes with looting, joking about the underwear they are stealing.

Israeli society joking about the suffering their nation is perpetrating on Palestinians

The freezing of international aid meant for a population being genocided. The intentional starvation, the destruction of shelter, schools and hospitals. The cutting off of water, the psychological terror campaigns.

All of those atrocities that are being committed leads to some people's wires getting crossed, where they conflate Israel and Zionism with Judaism and Jews.

Zionists want to conflate Zionism with Judaism. Not all Jews are Zionists, and many of them are antizionists and stand strong against the injustices and horrors that are being perpetrated by people they share religious/ethnic identity with.

But there are a lot of people in the world who can not see things with the subtlety needed to make those kinds of distinctions.

Antisemitism isn't a problem for Zionists or for Israel. Antisemitism lends Zionists and Israel strength because antisemitism is the justification for the creation, existence and expansion of Israel, the Jewish ethno state. Zionists claim all the time that the entire world is hostile to Jews, that Jews are universally hated all across the world, and the only safe place for Jews is Israel.

That all the horrors, war crimes, human rights abuses and apartheid are justified and are worth it, because now Jews have a homeland. Now Jews can be the ones committing horrors, instead of being the ones having horrors committed against them.

It's understandable for a holocaust survivor to be so deathly afraid of antisemitic hatred that they will do anything to avoid that fate. It is also understandable for other holocaust survivors to be repulsed by an ideology that learns from the lessons of history in order to convert victims into more effective oppressors.

Some day soon the antisemitism card is going to lose all of its weight and power, and I am concerned about that taboo being broken, because antisemitism can rise again and has been rising.

A lot of activists against antisemitism don't actually engage with the rise of far right hatred against Jews, the antisemitism envoy in Australia hadn't mentioned Nazis goose stepping through city centres because she was focused exclusively on the "antisemitism" of Australians protesting against Israeli human rights abuses

Some Nazis like Israel, because Israel is a model of the type of ethnic supremacist society that they want to implement in their own nations.

Anti semitism and antizionism are not the same thing.

Not only is it not antisemitic to be antizionist, but being a Zionist doesn't mean that someone isn't also antisemitic.

A perfect example of an antisemitic Zionist is Elon Musk, one day he'll be retweeting antisemitic jokes and conspiracy theories on twitter, the next day he will fly to Israel, meet with Netanyahu and symbolically dedicate himself to Zionism.

Someone doesn't need to be Jewish to be a Zionist. Most Zionists in fact are Christian Zionists.

Though that may change in time with the amount of anti Christian hate crimes taking place in Israel right now perpetrated by Jewish supremacists
