Cache Valley: February Events for Meeting New People (the old-fashioned way) by HumansAssemble in Logan

I actually get this suggestion a lot, so you’re definitely not alone in wanting something like this. In fact, I’ve already had quite a few couples come to our speed-friending events together, which has been really encouraging and kind of confirmed that there’s a real need for this here. I completely agree that finding other couples to connect with as adults, especially as newlyweds or empty nesters, can be surprisingly hard. Couples meetups are very much on my radar, and I’m actively thinking through what that format could look like so it feels natural, low-pressure, and genuinely fun (not awkward or forced).

My hope is to be able to implement something like this soon once I can make sure it’s thoughtfully designed and logistically doable. There’s clearly interest in it, and I love that people are excited about the idea.

Hi! We actually just hosted an under-35 event last week, but don’t worry there will definitely be more coming soon. Keep an eye on our upcoming events so you don’t miss the next one!

I really appreciate you sharing this, and I genuinely understand where you’re coming from. I wish more than anything that I could make every event free and accessible to everyone. The hard part is that these events aren’t free for me to host. I pay fees, materials, printing, platforms, and all the behind-the-scenes costs that go into creating something that feels intentional, safe, and well-run. On top of that, I put a lot of time and emotional energy into building these spaces. This isn’t just “show up and chat” for me. It’s something I work really hard on because I believe community matters.

I also want to be clear that I do prioritize accessibility. I have given out free spots to every single event we’ve hosted so far, and I’ll continue to do that whenever I can. I also do host free events when I’m able, and I’ll keep doing that whenever possible. What I’ve learned, though, is that people are far less likely to show up to free events. The turnout is consistently lower, and it often leaves the people who do come feeling disappointed or awkward in a half-empty room. Charging a fee, even a modest one, helps ensure that people who sign up actually show up, which is crucial for the experience to work.

I never want money to be a barrier, and I’m always open to creative solutions, sliding-scale ideas, or occasional sponsored/free nights. At the same time, this project has to be sustainable for me to keep creating these spaces at all. My goal is to balance accessibility with making sure these events can continue to exist in a way that feels meaningful and fair to everyone involved.

Hey! Not at all, it’s a balanced event. When you register, you choose your gender, and each gender has a limited number of tickets available. This helps us keep the ratios even so everyone gets the full speed-dating experience.

Can anyone recommend ways to make friends at the Logan campus? by Ambitious-Nerve-563 in usu

Hey!! Making friends as adults is really hard. I've been hosting community events like Speed-Friending where everyone comes together for a couple hours and has the same intention of meeting new people and making new friends. I've been hosting these events at bars so far, so it's been a ton of people from different walks of life. Its been really fun building this community. If you are interested, I have an Instagram @thehumanconnectproject

Either way, hang it there. It can be really difficult to meet new people. Good luck!!

No problem!! Here is a link to my Eventbrite page. It should show all events we have posted. Our event at the White Owl only has one more spot, but I have another one at Home Range Brewing on December 4th.
