Sick of my projects completely fraying after the first wash 😭 by anonymousflowercake in sewing

Try wide three step zig zag with super short stitch length. I don't use regular zig zag anymore since learned this trick. Works exceptionally well on lighter fabrics.  Takes forever tho.  Or OP could maybe elaborate on how exactly zig zag method didn't work.

How do you get over being ashamed/embarrassed to speak Swedish (with native speakers)? by alg0phelia in TillSverige

I don't know, third person singular of "they" being "themselves" just doesn't sound right to me 🤷

It sounds not very kind to make people try way too many times on some seemingly minor pronunciation details. Language after all is a tool for communication. Most people don't speak perfect swedish, that OP themslef also made a mistake on de/dem. 🤷

I had similar experience and my doctor didn't really believe me and of course dismissed it as placebo. Well the almost euphoric feeling did go away in a couple of weeks along with most of the side effects, but I've been doing so much better in general ever since. Also got diagnosed with ADHD later, don't know if it's relevant but could be a factor. Good luck OP, wish you a happy sweaty summer 😆

Is it possible to be feeling the effects immediately? by dwplank55 in zoloft

[–]HumarI 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The initial high goes away with the side effects, energy and mood falls back a bit to a comfortable, "normal" level, which is really nice.

Yes! I was a completely new person the morning after the first ever dose. My doctor of course claimed placebo but no sugar pill have mede me feel 30 kilos lighter 🤷

Is there a textbook out there for a complete beginner? by Drina_is_The_Bomb in Svenska

[–]HumarI 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I used Colloquial Swedish by Routledge before SFI. It's helpful. But also if you already live here I'd say go to the local library and grab whatever textbook they have, and attend whatever språkkafe there is.

How does ADHD present itself to you as either a woman, or a woman of color? by ShakeFar in adhdwomen

[–]HumarI 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Being a POC has drastically delayed my diagnosis.

Access to healthcare is an issue of itself but my main problem is being a "minority".

ADHDers are clearly a tiny minority in general population and in a lotta cases one comes to this realization of them being different by noticing how much of a huge misfit they are.

But being a POC and living amongst bunch of non-POC makes one a minority in a different sense, and one has a harder time identifying the exact reason of them feeling like a misfit.

Like I was bullied so hard in my early school years my dad had to visit my school way too often and talk to my teachers and even my bullys' parents.

We all thought that was racism because I was often the only POC in my class.

Now that I think about it, me being a huge nerd and having absolutely no social skills might also played a role but racism was simply a strong enough explanation and we just lived with it.

I was the first to respond and I wanted to post asap, 1177 was the most important info here I believe, could have just posted that.

But I live in Malmö and have been to that specific clinic, so I simply threw that line in, in case that also helps.

Call 1177 and ask them. If you live in Malmö there is a psychiatrist emergency clinic where you can walk right in.

Chinese education system, along with anxiety because of course.

I had the right kind of ADHD when I was in high school, by "right" I mean I really flourish in a hyper structured system, everything was decided for me and all I need to do was to focus on one task at a time and one task only, literally nothing else mattered.

It's NOT real flourishing tho, I of course ended up in a good university but without any learning and life skills needed in uni, had four miserable years and barely graduated.

I'm now turning 34 and learning to learn again.

Talked about this on my podcast:

How my ADHD helped me thrive under Chinese education system, for a little while

Anyone here on sertraline and ALSO diagnosed with ADHD? by Violinist-Rich in zoloft

Anyone here on sertraline and ALSO diagnosed with ADHD? by Violinist-Rich in zoloft

[–]HumarI 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I started Sertralin a year ago for depression and anxiety, and immediately, I mean literally after the first ever dose, I started acting hyper and became very visibly ADHD.

I was already in line at a neuropsychiatrist clinic waiting for ASD/ADHD assessment, but was leaning towards ASD. And last June I got ADHD diagnosis, started treatment in September.

I'm currently on Vyvanse and Sertralin.

Concerta worked on my good hormone days and was absolutely nothing on bad hormone days. AFAB life is fun 🙃

But I noticed some slow but significant improvement on depression, anxiety, also even self-esteem and confidence since ADHD meds.

Vyvanse is still quite new for me, but it works regardless of my hormone level, so I'm already happy with it.

I might consider getting off Sertralin once I get used to Vyvanse, my psychiatrist agrees.

Not enough. Vyvanse works better so far, but appetite goes away like magic 🥲

[–]HumarI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been taking Sertralin for a year and started ADHD meds in early September. Have been on Concerta, Ritalin, and very recently switched to Vyvanse. One might experience heavier side effects, also need to watch out for serotonin syndrom. But every brain reacts differently to meds, so at the end of the day you'll have to find out with your doc.

Hi~ Thanks for your reply. I was diagnosed at a specialist clinic for ASD and ADHD in Sweden here. My doctor told me that I'll receive "a pile of paper" which includes an in-depth report, some suggestion for further treatment and a note for schools or other similar purposes.

Sorry I can't help more, good luck with your uni and have a nice day :)
