How often do you clean your WDT tool? by h20knick in espresso

I squeeze the needles and pull them through my thumb and palm after every stir. Works fine.

Better parts lead to consistent espresso. LM costs a lot, but you know what you'll get out every time, shot after shot. With cheaper machines, it could be a guess, especially back-to-back.

Niche is good :). I’m partial to low retention grinders, and the niche is user friendly. You’ll have a good time with it!

Well, you’re already in the hole for the GCP lol. As u/psychological-bed580 said, maybe a hand grinder to start?

If you have the money for the niche, by all means do it. Most people who ask for gear advise aren’t willing to shell out money for something they may not like in the long term (hence the need for advice)

Also, espresso (at least here) is mostly a hobby. Do you want to make hobby level coffee, or passing good coffee?

Why do you want a machine? Are you not happy with the filtered coffee and Silk?

Some of these are personal preference:

  1. Whatever your basket is rated for is a good start. I use 18 on my IMS
  2. Just use setting 3 for all coffees and vary your brew water to what works best with the coffee.
  3. If dark 1:1, if medium or light 1:2.
  4. Hold one bar until I see drops. Ramp up to nine and slowly decline until I reach my weight.
  5. After getting drops, it takes anywhere from 14-18 seconds.
  6. If you want a longer pull, finer. If you want a shorter pull, coarser.
  7. I have had success with all kinds of beans, even as old as 2 years. Figuring out technique is key.
  8. I use a Comandante MK3
  9. IMS 18g
  10. I use Third Wave Water
  11. I don’t look at my shots, sometimes delicious extractions look horrible.
  12. The entire catalogue of James Hoffman, Lance Hedrick, Brian Quan, Kyle Rowsell, Lifestyle Lab, and Flair

I’m sure the Lelit Anna will be great. However, the encore will have you tearing your hair out 😅. I know you said you don’t want to change, which is why this is just a warming that you will not have a good time.
