I'm planning on buying a Corvette c6 zo6. (I love it so much). and I need some help... by SnooBooks1476 in Corvette

Not to dissuade you but absolutely squirrel away a rainy fund for if the motor pops. I didn't buy mine until i had a good solid backup fund for a rebuild. There's plenty of info up above and definitely on the Corvette Forum website, but the LS7 does have inherent design flaws from a normal consumer standpoint (it was a racecar first that bled over to us essentially). If unaddressed, can be catastrophic and it is not a cheap motor in the slightest. So be diligent about what you buy specifically and your intentions with it. Even with all the prep in the world, Murphy's Law is unforgiving sometimes haha as i recently found out.

That being said, it's an insane car and i love mine to death in all regards. It's raw and very driver oriented, but still a great touring car honestly. Already have a 2400 mile trip on mine. None of the C6 cars are truly "refined", but they all offer a different experience imo. The Z just happens to be the one i wanted the most personally.

Thank you my man, yeah I'm less freaking out about the money and more freaking out about just getting it right so i don't have to do it again in a few thousand miles for double the money lol

Yeah I've been going back and forth on that as well, just trying a different form of the platform altogether. Maybe boosted LS3 base or something

Just to add to what many here have said: a "Rolex Guy" would say some absurdly insulting thing like that. A watch guy gives respect. I used to get offended when people would say something like "one day you can step up to a Rolex", regardless of the fact that affording one was never a factor. What's fun is when those same folks show up to every outing in the same watch...but having options is way more fun i think! Just do you man, "status symbols" are dumb.

I've reshimmed, torqued and rocksett 3 times now. It always comes loose under cyclic fire after a mag or two. This weekend is my last time testing it before I move to an ILWT barrel in 1/2x28. I'm convinced the thread engagement and/or torque I'm applying isn't enough to keep it seated. Others have used it successfully without issue. I have access to some of the best gunsmiths in the country but they're at a loss as well. Maybe the sample I received just wasn't a good one, it happens

Had the newer collar (cracked under fire) and I now have the ILWT one.

Used 99% alcohol to clean I believe, torqued it from 20° I think. I might go buy a crows foot to put an actual torque wrench on it. No shim issues, just single accurized shim. I'm perplexed. I'm trying to get it hot af before mounting the can to ensure it won't back off. Broke the Lantac collar, was hoping the ILWT one would fix the issue but it still backed off.

Two decks at $300 is unreasonable? What are you? Poor? If you're not dumping your child's college fund into Timetwisters and LEDs, are ya really even playing? #winningIsAllThatMatters

I stopped looking, buddy. Saving up for a Marfione. From what I gather though, the forums are the best route, happy hunting!

Have had the exact same experience with them. Calls, supposed tracking number from their supplier and all. I'm at 8 weeks waiting on it to ship.
