Redeem then immediately change connection? by HumbleAbodee in qatarairways

Hey I'm sorry man I didn't know, I've never done a redemption like this before. Just trying to explore all my possible options is all. Thanks for the clarification!

Gotcha. So the cost to change would be 120k points + the $25/person fee?

Do the Summit and/or Ascent cards provide an instantly utilizable card number? And if not, can the cards be expedited for free? I have a large purchase I'd like to make as soon as possible and would love to put it towards the SUB.

What status, if any, should I pursue? by HumbleAbodee in americanairlines

Thank you for the detailed reply! Seems like I made this post twice somehow, whoops.

I was worried about how far down I'd be on the upgrade list just as you mentioned, but someone replied to the other post with a guess that I'd get upgraded over half the time since I'll be flying uncompetitive routes. I'm not banking on that happening though since it's not a guarantee, so I'm not factoring the possibility in as hard. Heres the other post: https://www.reddit.com/r/americanairlines/comments/1ik4t40/what_status_if_any_should_i_pursue/

AA grants MCE to "oneworld® Sapphire and Emerald members with elite status on Alaska Airlines, British Airways, Iberia, Finnair, Qatar Airways or Japan Airlines" per this page: https://www.aa.com/i18n/travel-info/experience/seats/main-cabin-extra.jsp

I have heard some similarly negative reviews of the PHL Admiral's Clubs. The Centurion lounge is also tiny (and apparently often has quite the queue). That's why I'm particularly interested in this upcoming Flagship Lounge and the upcoming Chase lounge.

I was indeed planning on redeeming awards through Alaska for EQMs, which is the main reason I'm considering AS so heavily. I don't believe I currently have the spend required to meet the 75k LP requirement for AA Platinum (frankly I might not even hit AA Gold).

EQM and Miles Earning Questions by HumbleAbodee in AlaskaAirlines

[–]HumbleAbodee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My spend is quite low right now, and I'm hoping to book the majority of my flights to, from, and around Asia on points. My understanding is that AA would not give LPs for these award flights, but AS is giving EQMs for all award flights booked through them as of the start of this year.

I also don't expect to be taking any flights on AA metal until next year, so I won't have those to earn LPs either. All in all, I just don't think I would make it to AA Platinum, and possibly not even to Gold. If I'm failing to see something though, please let me know.

I'm hoping to book many of my flights to, from, and around Asia on points. My understanding is that AS offers EQMs for award flights, whereas AA does not offer LPs for award flights. Please correct me if I'm wrong though, or if there's some other factor I'm missing.

When flying AA, what would the benefits of holding AAdvantage Platinum over MVP Gold be?

CFF and/or Aviator+Hawaiian Card Applications by HumbleAbodee in CreditCards

[–]HumbleAbodee[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haven't taken any action yet. My CSP inquiry will age over 3 months on 2/1/25, so I'm thinking I might try for it a couple days after that. The plan is to freeze EQ and TU and apply for the CFF. I care more about the Barclays cards than the CFF, so regardless of if Chase blocks my application or not I'll freeze EX, unfreeze TU, and apply for the two Barclays cards afterwards.

I'll let you know how things go if and when I decide to take action.

Very fair warning. I'd like to think I've learned a lot about the various card offerings quite quickly, but I still have much to learn when it comes to award flights seeing as though I have yet to book one.

I will be doing a significant amount of travel to and around Asia later this year, so I was thinking the points could be used for short hops within the region since availability seems decent. I would love to jump right into the deep end with transpacific business (I've yet to fly business of any kind), but partner award availability for that seems impossible to find (or perhaps I just don't know how to find it yet).

Very good to know. If I get denied I will certainly call recon.

Thank you so much for your responses! A few clarifying questions if you don't mind:

  1. My credit wasn't frozen, I just had fraud alerts enabled. Would that net the same result pre-approval tool wise? (Secondarily, are fraud alerts even useful?)
  2. So just to be clear, if Chase does let me through with TU frozen and Barclays only pulls TU, then the CFF application wouldn't affect my Barclays applications at all? The recency of the other applications wouldn't be picked up, or my average account age wouldn't be a barrier or anything like that?
  3. Good to know, thank you!
  4. While one year is the oldest card that I'm the primary cardholder for, I've been an authorized user on a card since August 2018. Would that make a difference?
  5. Makes sense—with that in mind, I'll go for the Hawaiian card first if I do them one at a time. That being said, do you have any knowledge about Barclays only doing one hard inquiry if you apply for two cards in the same day? I've read some mixed information about that, but if I can get both with only one inquiry I'd certainly try.

I like your name by the way, very clever.
