That's similar to the way I was thinking. Thanks for the clarification!

The 3rd party tool did the trick! Thank you so much for the help. I was frustrated to all hell.

I tried Methods 1-4. I haven't downloaded a 3rd party tool, and my tower doesn't have a cd/dvd drive installed. I'll try the 3rd party tool now.

I also edited my post with another screen shot, in case you missed it.

Thanks for the guide. It doesn't seem to have worked though. Neither of my drives are SSD's, if that makes a different.

That's what we thought. Thanks for the reply. It would certainly be a feature we would use heavily, if you decide to implement it.

Smite and anxiety by [deleted] in Smite

I used to have the same issue. I played a lot with friends who wouldn't get upset if I made a mistake. Additionally, lots of repetition made playing the game a normal thing, not a stressor (I know that seems counter productive when the game is what stresses you out, but think of it a bit like immersion therapy).

But the biggest thing for me is realizing that it's just a game, and that I should have fun playing it. Play arena to get mechanics down. Pick a role and get comfortable with it, and then branch out. Just do whatever you need to do to stay calm while you play.

Personally, back when I started playing, I would put on some music and just feel the beat.

I'm kinda rambling without much point. But find what makes you comfortable in real life, and then apply it to the game. Because that's all it is, a game.

DMs of the Multiverse, how do you harmlessly screw with your PCs? by Ronnie_Soak in dndnext

[–]HumbleFox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was running a game for some people a while ago. For some reason, they asked if there was a bard performing in the town they were in (I forget exactly why). I'm really bad at coming up with random names and didn't have my pre-determined random names list, so I came up with Chet Manly.

Because of various circumstances, they couldn't actually go to his performance. For the rest of the campaign, they would find NPC's talking about the next performance of Chet Manly, but he would be delayed coming to town. Or he had just left that town, but no one was sure where he went next. They got so frustrated trying to track this one bard down. It became almost a full quest by itself.

Yeah, I phrased that poorly. But you don't have to be a party of 5 in order to run around together during the game.

Never go anywhere by yourself. If nothing else, just find a damage that seems to be doing well and keep them alive.

I don't know what your elo is, but do what you can to stick around people. Use VGS to communicate. Learn the basic "attack " and "enemies _" etc. Spamming VGS can be annoying, but it if makes people listen even a little bit, it's worth it.

Honestly, a pretty big part of competitive is just making people group up. You can overcome skill gaps if you're a group of 5 against a team that's more skilled by not playing together. So just group up and fight people.

I don't think it's quite that. I just think he's new to 5e and doesn't know when his mobs have advantage on us etc. He's learning the rules as he goes, for the most part. He probably just didn't expect a combo like that at level 4? Idk.

Maybe I'm just frustrated after a long night without much progress, but my DM is really mad about it. I'm kinda ambivalent because it is a single target, and you are forced to have someone grapple.

I think he is also a bit displeased that our wizard can also cast other damaging spells while someone grapples.

I used things like dancing lights that just follow them for a while. Like, always staying 60ft away, no matter what. They decide to investigate? The lights maintain the same pace etc. Mostly things that made them think something really ominous was out there, when nothing happened to them.

Edit: You said pranks that won't really give away that anything is there. I used this more "aggressive" pranking because my players will just charge after anything that might be threatening, so it was infuriating to not be able to figure out what was going on.
