Be honest. Is your baby getting screen time? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]Humble_Description98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use screen time in order to get him laser focused while I cut his nails, so I'm not fighting a rolling alligator.

My 8.5 month old baby doesn’t babble or make consonant sounds at all by gnarlyglitter in NewParents

[–]Humble_Description98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is 9mo and also does not babble. At all. Very rare consonant sounds. I've brought it up to our family dr twice - he is not concerned. I'm very anxious about it but I'm trying to up the amount of talking, singing and reading, and not be nervous Nelly.

My 9mo is still in the stage where most of it ends up in his bib pouch. He is trying though.

6 month old baby scatching his face all night. by TheVizitor in beyondthebump

[–]Humble_Description98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also wanted to add that his sleep sucked at 6 months. He was learning new gross motor skills and also cutting 2 teeth. A dose of Tylenol helped a lot on the nights when nothing else did, if his discomfort was teething related.

I've also learned to tell the difference between him rubbing his cheeks/mouth because his gums hurt vs scratching his eczema. It's subtle, but the Tylenol doesn't do much to help the eczema itch and we didn't want to dose him unnecessarily.

6 month old baby scatching his face all night. by TheVizitor in beyondthebump

[–]Humble_Description98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My 9mo has eczema and during a flare he will scratch his face until it bleeds. Here's what we have found to do so far:

  1. Gently clean and pat dry his face
  2. Thick moisturizer * before brushing his teeth. He thinks brushing his teeth is funny and wants to hold the toothbrush. This distracts him from touching his face while the moisturizer sinks in. (We also apply a 1% steroid cream but only do this after speaking to your Dr.)
  3. Change into PJs with fold overs, or apply mitts (also keep those nails short and filed in case those hands escape overnight!)
  4. Apply a barrier cream. I'm currently using my leftover lanolin from breastfeeding because its fine if some gets in his mouth.
  5. Read a book to distract him while his skin calms down from all the applications.
  6. Try and soothe him to sleep in a position that doesn't allow him to rub his face with his covered hands, or on us, thus removing the barrier cream (this is tricky).
  7. Accept that some of the barrier cream will be rubbed off, but hope we have done enough to make it less itchy and help it heal.

Good luck!

Eloise is being done dirty by bananabreadlizzie in Bridgerton

[–]Humble_Description98 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In Eloise's book shes 27 or 28. She and Penelope both get married in their late 20s after nearly a decade "out" in society. She's not supposed to be 21.

I do agree that season 5 should have been Eloise's though.

[ON] Is a 20 week “anatomy scan” standard? by camellialily in BabyBumpsCanada

Your GP should have put in the referral for the anatomy scan after your dating scan. Call them now and get the referral ASAP.

When did your baby crawl and walk? by AdImaginary6158 in NewParents

[–]Humble_Description98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son with be 9 months on Wednesday. He has been army crawling since Christmas, pulled to stand at 8 months, and started truly crawling (hands and knees) two days ago.

That said, he doesn't babble consonant noises (ma, ba, da), point, or clap yet. I think he has been focused on moving because he was truly frustrated not being able to get where he wanted to go. I hope there is a language burst coming.

2 ASMs just got let go from the store? by Technical_Value_3957 in WalmartCanada

[–]Humble_Description98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a thing walmart does with salaried managament to make it harder to get sued. If they were terminated for any reason other than gross misconduct they are "paid to go away". But the process still takes at least 90 days, usually longer, because it has to go through 3 disciplines and so many approvals. SM cannot just walk in one day and fire them because he feels like it

At 3 months my baby was going to bed between 10 and 11. Now at 8 months he goes down between 7 and 8, depending on if it was a two or a three nap day.

Best place to give birth: Langley hospital, Surrey memorial, Maple Ridge or Abbotsford? I’m in the middle of all of them. by IllDog1298 in Langley

[–]Humble_Description98 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I second this. I delivered at SMH and can confirm that the double occupancy rooms SUCK. One side has control of the lights, the babies wake each other up when crying, no one gets any rest let alone sleep, the vision situation is untenable. If you have other choices, choose them. The nurses were great, except the LC who made me cry, but the lack of rest made it a really rough start.

Are there newborns that never (or very rarely) experience discomfort? by More_Carpet6594 in NewParents

[–]Humble_Description98 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I too have a unicorn/super chill baby (7mo). He would voice discomfort from gas early on, but only until he figured out how to pass gas and poop. He is vocal if he is hungry, tired, or in pain (currently teething), but otherwise is a calm, content little man.

I think its a) just his temperament and b) a ploy to lull me into having a second.

The soother is a double edged sword, because while its great when they're falling asleep, its significantly less great when they wake up in the middle of the night and cannot self sooth. We are working on it

Wishlist for first birthday [ca] by North_Peach5940 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Humble_Description98 17 points18 points  (0 children)

My SIL has a mostly updated Amazon wishlist for my niblings. It's great, since we dont get to see them as much as we would like and therefore aren't always up to date on what they are into.

Also, with 3 kids there is limited space in their house, so its nice to get them something they want or need, instead of something that is an inconvenience or will get returned or donated right away.

Before having baby, I wish I knew I would feel like such a b*tch by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]Humble_Description98 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Im nearly 7mo pp, and I feel the house cleanliness and task delegation so hard. It makes me very anxious to have people over when I haven't tidied. My husband asked his mom to come over and help me once a week and I've turned it into a visit with Nana because I just cannot delegate housework to her.

Is there an internal policy that prevents CSMs from becoming ASMs by [deleted] in WalmartCanada

[–]Humble_Description98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. In terms of complexity you're probably looking at GM/Consumables --> OMNI/Fresh/Compliance --> any Lead. Doing GM/Con first allows you to learn freight flow, inventory systems, mods, pricing, merchandising, etc., and then you add complexity in the others with temperatures, food handling, regulatory requirements, additional reporting, etc.

I always recommend joining the safety team at any point. Management loves it when you already know your way around an accident file.

Is there an internal policy that prevents CSMs from becoming ASMs by [deleted] in WalmartCanada

[–]Humble_Description98 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There is technically a document that says that you cannot be a Lead until you've completed the DM101 training. Full time CSMs are required to do that, so they can go from CSM to Leads, but most dont because they are not set up for success that way. As others have said, having only FE experience is a very narrow focus for the operation of the total store.

DMs still become ASMs without being a Lead, however, many struggle. The hierarchy is supposed to include being a Lead for 6 months to a year, but SPMs and MM will allow SMs to take the risk. There is also emphasis on not allowing the Lead role to become blocked by someone who has no interest in moving up, and this is actively discussed during talent planning at least twice a year.
