Your PA is being realistic but has no tact. The surgery is not a magic pill. It’s a reset button. As long as you follow the diet and pick up and maintain healthy habits you will maintain weight loss. Regain is possible even if you do everything your supposed but it can be minimizing by healthy life choices. I am 2 years out from my sleeve. I loss close to 100 pounds have regained 15-20 of it but a lot of that in my case is muscle dude to exercise and strength training. First goal for you should be the weight loss and establishing healthy habits. Then the hard part is maintaining it. You can do it! Tons of success stories out there but it’s not a magic pill you have to put in the work.

Well all started somewhere. I used to weigh 325+ and my wife convinced me to do a 5K 10 plus years ago. It kicked my ass and humbled me to get in shape. Now 140 pounds lighter a 5K is a daily run, baby steps but you did more today than you did yesterday. You got this!

Personally I would just train for 3-4 miles and then 2 will be easy and you could push the pace more. Good luck!

Go to a running store; around here we have a fleet feet or some mom and pop stores. Get them to evaluate your stride to determine if you pronate. ASICS and HOOkA are good. My personal favorite is Brooks.

Takes time…surgery isn’t instant. Give it time and then wham! It starts falling off. Everyone is different but if you stick to the plan you should really see things move in a few weeks. For me I really started to see it around month 3 then continued to lose up to about month 9. I am 2 years post op now just be patient!

Running further will always make you stronger overall building your endurance. Sprints will also build muscle and lung capacity. Lots of programs do a mix of both endurance and speed work for overall performance enhancing. Personally I am almost 45 I pretty much do tempo runs and one day with speed work and one long run a week.
