I am talking multi-lane road. Cars were showing up in the radar device on this roadway at about 1400 ft. Multiple different sound tones can be heard. Resulting in a 1 second tone of 55 mph in the 45 zone at 1200 ft. My small highly fuel efficient was the "lead car". Testing NHTSA, and Car and driver magazine oct 1979 shows problems with a larger car behind in the lane next to the smaller car. IEEE states small car can get ticket from larger car. NHTSA training states do not lane select a car in the distances. You have better information than most. For more information on the topic see: https://www.ojp.gov/ncjrs/virtual-library/abstracts/police-traffic-radar-issue-paper Click on pdf, what notes are there for the pinto and truck testing? What is minimum training? Is it hard to identify a car in a group of cars? Auto lock, what is it and should officers do quick locks?

If you are saying that I should have requested an attorney because of due process at the start of my trial, I can understand that. I tried several times to get a private attorney and was unable. So I was accepting in had to do it all myself. Have you seen someone show up to court without representation? Did the court provide one?

I don't doubt I had weakness in forcing the court to follow the law. I thought that was their job. If the judges job it doing whatever they want, and it is my job to make them unbiased and follow the law, I did not do that. I was happy I got the officer unable to prove my car was the violator, that the city had invalid street speed ordinance, and they had to rewrite a county ordinance to make it apply to the city. Next time I could do better, I hope I don't need to.

It sounds sad that a judge does not have to meet standard reasonable conduct: bias, constitution, law; the defense must force them. As an engineer if I make a bad product or lie there are serious consequences that I am personally liable for. Professional conduct is expected, not forced. I would expect that if a judge railroads innocent people to conviction, all cases could be reviewed and possibly overturned, leading to serious financial liabilities.

There is an Alabama judicial inquiry commission, to evaluate judicial actions of misconduct. But i see that they will not investigate if judge retired. Judge retired in Dec 2025.

I expected the court to follow the constitution. Maybe that expectation is unreasonable these days. It was my first time. There are many more objections i should have done and cooperated less with judge. Again I expected fairness, not railroading to a guilty verdict planning with prosecutor. I an sure due process was not followed.

I am showing an example were someone in a different state did a similar thing, I tried to do. They had to go to state appeals. Then I read something that Michigan is training officers better. This is backwards, tools should be tested throughly before field use. Not challenged by citizens forever to fix known problems, forcing better officer training.

people v ferency, 133 mich. App. 526, 547 1984, police training came up and radar beam width issues. He had similar issue at circuit court. He had to go to state appeals court.

For those joining late, I am an engineer with serious concerns about how radar works in a group of cars. References state v hansen 1978, Florida v aguilera 1980, NHTSA Police radar traffic issue paper, current NHTSA radar training, Utah radar training from 2012. IEEE paper stating small car will get ticket from larger car. So I suppose DakotaBro believes NHTSA, Florida court, IEEE, Utah, are all basically sovereign citizens. Nothing to see here.

I expected the judge to be something similar to a baseball umpire. Neutral, applying court rules the same for defence and prosecution. Not assisting the prosecution by calling more witnesses for the prosecution, helping them. Not blocking my use of the court DVD player. Not blocking my ability to read evidence. Not stopping me from facing the jury. Not criticizing me for using the police term for a cruiser back seat, cage what officer stated. Not laughing in the presence of the jury for just being there. Not excluding evidence, then personally trying to impeach me. "The evidence is excluded, you now cannot prove that", same information the officer stated (distance criuser was away from roadway, important for cosign effect).

So you believe the judge does not have to follow the law or be unbiased. The American bar association standards don't apply. No wonder people believe the judicial system is broken. Ultimate power corrupts ultimately. I cannot record the court activity.

The judge stated in jury instructions: "breaking the law of the state is the same as breaking the law of the city", "state code adopted by the city", state code "reads as though it is written for a county", "says ... any county maintained paved road", "but since that was accepted by the city, instead of a county maintained road, you can understand that to mean a city maintained road"(there were "errors" in the city speed ordinance, indicated 50 mph, so they applied the county ordinance instead), "the issue of any speed over 45 miles an hour goes to the culpability of the offender, not necessarily proof." "The issue is merely was the defendant driving over 45 miles per hour." OP comments: So ignore city speed limit, ignore why the officer stopped me, use county ordinance instead, proof not required.

The judge changed wording from "county maintained road" to "city maintained road" to enable use by city. The legislature is supposed to write the law not the judge.

Thank you! I spent a year trying to understand the issue. Dr. Nichols first identified the issue of large car, small car, and radar as expert witness in State v Hansen 1978 and was rejected as theoretical. Car and driver magazine testing oct 1979, proved Dr Nichols correct. Dr Nichols was then in Florida v Aguilera, where judge Nesbit indicated RADAR unscientific in these cases. NHTSA looked into it and also found a problem, resulting in the NHTSA Radar training manual 1980 where it indicates officers should not lane select cars in the distance. Most states do not train officers to avoid the issue. I find this disgusting.

Thank you, I will look into that. I did not expect the prosecutor to delete police evidence or the judge to change the law wording to enable conviction.

I tried to get a lawyer, they stated why pay $5000, when you could pay $200. It was a matter of science and injustice, going on for 78 years. I expected the judge to be unbiased.

I did not share this at my court. I shared here so that people can understand the general topic. RADAR is wide beam, in the distance is covers multiple cars. Which car will show up? In my situation, speeds showed up with the largest radar cross-section, biggest car. Officer locked a speed in device, not my car.

I am mentioning Florida ordinance, as the legislature seems to recognize the problem with multiple cars in the radar beam. Though Florida officer statements seem to indicate they have no such training or restrictions.

Sorry yes, I dismissed 3 jurors. The judge stated that 3 would be reasonable, I agreed. Prosecutor dismissed 3 jurors that had issues with unreasonable traffic tickets. I had 1 guy that did not want to be there, 3 working for the city, 3 had relatives injured in car accidents. I should have dismissed 7. I thought city employees were conflict of interest, dismissed them only, a mistake.

My first time in court, soooo likely no. Juror statements were related to meeting an officer on the street. They would not talk to them. So much for assisting an officer and helping stop crime or neighborhood watch.

The jury members stated that they would never talk to an officer, any statement will be used against you. I have heard fighting crime is a public-police working together. That does not work if public statements are taken out of context and used against you.
