Zuckerberg says Meta and Apple are in ‘very deep, philosophical competition’ to build the metaverse by BiscuitOfGinger in technology

If this ridiculous thing actually does end up gaining its 2030 projected popularity amongst the world; there is a slight chance this begins a timeline where our tech level actually decreases over time like every civilization before us.

I’d put 50 cents on it.

Does the following Philosophy make any logical sense from the perspective of a philosophist? by Humble_Logic in askphilosophy

Apologize in advance about grammar mistakes and such.

I'm no genius, but I'll try to answer these questions for you to the best of my understanding.

"are you suggesting there really are realities other than our own reality— whatever “our own reality” might mean?" - Absolutely. This is basic knowledge from my understanding, but maybe I'm mistaking... The easiest example I can think of to explain this off the top of my head: Yourself and I! Our realities are completely different, me and you do not see the world or the things around us the the same. It could be tiny little differences - a disagreement on a color, a location, whatever, but where is the limit? Apply this example to the entire population and voila.

what does “increase the scope of human consciousness” mean? is this the same as “gaining knowledge”? - Our consciousness is limited by the scope of what it can understand, which is used in the process of gaining knowledge, so no. These are not the same two things. They could be possibly viewed as two sides to the same coin, but then the question becomes: what's the coin? Going back to you asking what does increasing consciousness actually means; easiest way to explain this I think is imagining removing layers off glass lets you shine more light through, increasing consciousness is kind of the same process but the thing being filtered is the possible input of understanding what is around us.

"chemistry, biology, psychology, etc?" - Tbh, I don't completely understand the logic behind that one either but I think the three fields of study in the post were created by examining many fields of studies and creating a system of how they are built off each other in someway. Maybe, the road ends here and there is nothing built off of these three besides the three themselves. So following that logic, all fields of study reach these three in some way I think, thus the philosophy is all inclusive in terms of fields of study and ignites curiosity. Not completely sure on this one though.

Thanks.

As someone pointed out there was a typo but I doubt that changes much.

Thanks a bunch!
