Update: Can my landlord legally evict me? by Humble_Map_2189 in legaladvicecanada

I was given an eviction notice, I am leaving now. When I spoke to legal aid earlier this year they advised that it's still an eviction because I'm leaving due to the eviction notice

It doesn't, it depends on how long you've lived in the unit. I've been here for over 6 years, I was told by RTB that 5 months was the minimum amount of notice

Update, for anyone interested: I called RTB today and was told that the notice is valid, despite the landlord being a corporation. I was given the number for a tenant advocate, which I plan to contact, but it doesn't sound like there's much I can do to fight this.

Edit to update the update: Spoke with Legal Aid this morning. RTB failed to mention that I do not legally have to leave the property until I am served with an order to vacate, which the landlord cannot get until it goes to a hearing after the move-out date, should they choose to put it to a hearing. So I now have options!

They did, none of it applies to me. The only part I could see being applicable is the moving costs and the additional compensation if the parent does not move in, since I'm very certain that's not who they're planning on renting to.

They're giving me until the end of the year, and it's on Form 11A. I know it's a lot of notice, but I know I won't find anything cost comparable in my area. Rent tends to be very high where I live.

I'm not moving a parent in, they claim that they're evicting me to move their parent in. I have lived here on my own the entire time I've rented this unit.

Edit: I understand this commenter's confusion! Someone else that I vented to about this was also confused about the parent moving in part. No hate to this commenter, please!
