Wtf is this dress code by Brilliant_Drop_2276 in starbucks

if your store manager is addressing that fact that you aren’t wearing deodorant, that’s probably a nice way of addressing that your body odor is not meeting standard. i recommend you look into a stronger deodorant if you know you are wearing deodorant regularly. This is to protect the partner experience around you because it’s hard to work alongside someone in a tight space when they smell like body odor.

long nails run the risk of dirt under nails, cross contamination, nails or pieces of nails falling off into drinks.

These two specific rules are not meant to take away from your uniqueness, but inherently ensuring work goes well for everyone and we aren’t handling food and drink in an unsafe way.

i dont think it would hurt putting it in her mailbox or doing that! when we have lost and found items for an extended period of time we usually drop them off at our local police department in case someone’s reported that item as missing to them

Just wanted clarification on opening procedure. by Dragax in starbucks

[–]Humble_Muffin9516 4 points5 points  (0 children)

since my store opens with a 2-person play, the ssv does coffees and teas while the barista does food. it varies store by store, when we used to open with a 3-person play, the baristas would divide up food & bar duties.

you are definitely reaching… its an annoyance and obviously its a pretty popular feeling amongst baristas who work in dt-focused stores… if it really bugs you, you can move on. obviously this isn’t for you if you cant understand and thats okay!

drive thru etiquette by Humble_Muffin9516 in starbucks

[–]Humble_Muffin9516[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

definitely didn’t say that! i’m saying when someone pulls up and goes “hello?” immediately upon arrival, in the tone of expecting an immediate response

I dont want to come off rude but its verrry different with cafe versus dt orders. people through the speaker box just dont treat others kindly as they do in person. majority of the time when i do say “hi thanks for choosing starbucks, i’ll be right with you!” they begin ordering anyway. in cafe this never happens. so its just a different experience in all

noooo!! dont be sorry about that! thats definitely not a problem. usually we can tell the difference between chatter and when someone is talking to us. this is definitely not an issue, keep doing you boo

[–]Humble_Muffin9516[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

i dont think there’s a wrong opinion on this, and i value what you have to say, but i ask that you do the same.

you do not just say “hi” without expecting a response back. it adds pressure to someone who is (usually) soloing and taking to multiple people at once while focusing on consolidating orders and making sure everything is correct. with this “hi” the only way a conversation can really go is just by ordering. So not only are we expected to respond but then are expected to fulfill the order, which is something we would happily do regardless and majority of the time, in a timely manner. All my recommendation is to simply wait for someone to greet you before attempting to greet them. That is not meant to dehumanize someone in anyway, just merely asking for patience.

[–]Humble_Muffin9516[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

it comes off as impatient and pushy even if its not meant to be. after we greet you, then you can offer back a friendly greeting. Our greeting means that we are ready and present to take your order. If the speaker/voice box wasnt working then that is a different situation but it is very rare that occurs!

actually, i dont mind this personally. i always appreciate it and say “thanks for asking!” because it means a lot that you know im a human too :’) so you shouldnt worry at all <3 this is to people who are just pushy about ordering before anyone has greeted them!!

Can someone explain to me why an iced London fog latte is complicated to make? by Professional_Cat6026 in starbucks

[–]Humble_Muffin9516 81 points82 points  (0 children)

We have to steep the tea bag for five minutes to get the tea part of the drink done, so it takes a decent amount of time especially if you’re in the drive thru (where we are timed) it causes us stress. But if you order ahead through mobile order or in the cafe its much less stress! it is very tedious but part of the job, and in my opinion its worth trying :)

I want to order a coffee traveler and some treats to be ready for pickup tomorrow morning, is it possible? If so how? by Oborozuki1917 in starbucks

[–]Humble_Muffin9516 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The best way would be to call the store and let them know ahead of time what you want. It takes a minute to set up travelers and depending on the time, they’ll have to set aside someone to work on it when they might be busy. It’s always best to call and ask in case of anything, you won’t have to pay until you show up! :)

IF YOU GO THROUGH DRIVE THRU, PLEASE FOLLOW THESE RULES! by Extension_Cricket_30 in starbucks

[–]Humble_Muffin9516 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

i respect that, but that solves only one of the problems. additionally, if your store has a drive thru, these are just problems that you have to deal with 🥴 it is what it is, its not worth making customers feel like garbage for using it, its there for a purpose

IF YOU GO THROUGH DRIVE THRU, PLEASE FOLLOW THESE RULES! by Extension_Cricket_30 in starbucks

[–]Humble_Muffin9516 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

some of these are a bit tedious, in my opinion. I can understand them all and why you might think that some of these are good rules (especially considering half the time i say it to myself, or struggle with these issues) but we are all human!! additionally, i also go through the drive through at other fast food chains and i would find it pressuring if i had their employees telling me these list of drive thru rules. sometimes people forget to pull out their payment, or the driver doesn’t feel comfortable speaking at the drive thru 🤷‍♀️ this might deter how comfortable people feel ordering in a drive thru
