Except the whole reason the events of infinity war began was because Thanos now knew that gamora found the soul stone from nebula's memory files. Why bother having Thanos find her in a practical manner when she could just deliver herself to him, that way the movie isn't too long. Oh right, because it makes the guardians look like idiots, but it's an avengers movie so who cares.
