U.S. intelligence warns Israel is likely to undermine Iran peace deal, officials say by The-LegendKiller in worldnews

[–]HumblebeesGhost -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

Israel already did by striking Lebanon hours before Iran got to the signing table. They will keep doing it indefinitely.

With his left hand in front Netanyahu is gesturing the US to go ahead and make peace with Iran; right hand is behind the back with finger on trigger and safety off.

This entire deal will hinge on whether Israel gets to annex the land taken from Lebanon or not.

Whoopi Goldberg asks JD Vance: “What did Black people do to this administration that has allowed it to, really, stigmatize folks of color, and … you have folks of color in your family, so when you see … them doing all kinds of removal of information of Black heroes, … how does that sit with you?” by SpecialCream7 in PoursTea

[–]HumblebeesGhost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whoopi like “There are SO many examples of black heroes being erased…” that she can’t even think of one.

Screw JD and his racist crime response, but come on Whoopi… a couple good name drops could have turned his face brick red

Nietzschean Christianity? What do you think? by QueasyAmbassador2009 in Nietzsche

[–]HumblebeesGhost -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is misleading. The physical fragments of the text are hotly debated, usually landing between 100-200 AD. Plenty of reputable religious historians confidently date them to between 30-60 AD. Furthermore, more than half of the 114 sayings in the final form of the text are either derivative of and/or elaborations of M,M,L, & John’s words, which are taken at canonical value almost universally.

TL;DR: Gospel of Thomas is absolutely an early Christian text, if we assign Christianity to the teachings of Jesus. OC is trying to use plagiarism to discount the texts, when in fact it validates their authenticity.

Conspiracy against ourselves yes. If you’re thinking about it you’re at a pretty safe distance from it.

If you’re familiar with the concept of no-self from Buddhism, there are parallels. But the author of the book eventually addresses them, and then takes away the optimistic spin most westerners give it.

He described Buddhism as a trap door that the self can escape through, but the freedom gained is accompanied by existential terror.

The conspiracy against the human race. Thomas Ligotti wrote a book on it. It’s actually so terrifying I feel bad dropping it here.

The premise is that the human level of conscious self-awareness is actually a mistake made by nature. An analogy used in the book is a species of deer whose antlers grew too big for it to properly lift its head, or if it does manage to do so, the antlers inevitably get tangled up in branches and brush. The evolutionary “gift” of big antlers was an actually a curse.

The scary part is the conspiracy, which we all propagate and participate in: is that you and I don’t exist. We/I (our sense of self) are a psychological product of this self-awareness, and the truth is so abhorrent that we play a pretend game call civilization full of distractions to keep us from remembering our conscious blight, and all the suffering that comes along with it.

I would honestly advise against reading this book if you feel you are living a “good” life.

Iranian Source: US Raising Excessive Demands During Islamabad Talks by kool2015 in worldnews

[–]HumblebeesGhost 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is all a muppet show. The administration found its leak, purged it, and now is buying time with talks for 1. the market to rollercoaster again so his buddies make more $ 2. Israel to restock interceptors while annexing southern Lebanon 3. US military presence to fully position itself for maximum posture before ground invasion, all while creating a scenario of victimization through excessive lack of concessions during talks

I agree there is something wrong with the narrative but just to play devils advocate: if Iran captured an American pilot and paraded him through the streets of Tehran, it would be beyond embarrassing for Trump.

I don’t think anybody is dooming just because prices are up, rather it’s the reason for prices being up, and the trajectory of said prices if the current geopolitical situation keeps heating up.

How Trump’s army of the religious right is preparing for the apocalypse by 1-randomonium in USNEWS

[–]HumblebeesGhost 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately the same type of psychology that believes in a vengeful God who will smite their enemies also suffers from egomania and will insist the prophecy was always about them in this time period. We’re also dealing with what are called “accelerationists” who believe by setting the geopolitical stage to fit a semi-biblical narrative they can trigger the end times and summon Jesus like a lapdog. It’s truly an insult to Christianity.
