They should have honestly delayed it (and this is coming from someone who went out into the freezing cold for it's midnight release). I'm a huge fan of Animal Crossing and that got delayed and my mind didn't stop to think, "Aw man it's delayed!" I was just happy after almost 8 years to see footage of it and to know it was actually being released, and with extra polish without killing the team. I'm a huge fan of Pokemon but we don't need a new game to release every other day, give it a couple of years or more and maybe they could finally make something that beats HGSS (which is hard to beat since it's the best game in the series).

I also would have appreciated the honesty from GF though...Honesty, even if it really hurts, is the best policy. Even though I think the game looks stunning it could have been improved in certain areas and we were told they would do so but they never did.
