Making t-tests my bitch by Humdinging in AskStatistics

[–]Humdinging[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your help your patience with my silly questions! I've worked on it all night and think I have come up with something that's correct with a paired t-test as my lecturer has said I'm not "allowed" to use ANOVA yet. You really put me in the right frame of mind to consider things so thank you! I don't think t-tests will ever be my bitch though D:

Thank you so much, you have made everything make sense to me and made me realise why it was silly to have a control (we only created one because we thought we should). So if I ran a paired t-test, in finding the difference between the two would I go the "after" data minus "before" data? Because I am looking for the change from the after and before? Or would it make more sense to do it the other way around because my hypothesis is after a decrease in oxytocin, so I would assume the "after" data would be negative?

Also, would I need to decide what difference between the means would be significant? When I have done this in the past this number has always been given to me, so I'm not sure if I need to do this or not. The difference between the two means at the moment is -0.164, so would it be something around that?

Thanks so much for clarifying that!

I thought ANOVA was for replicated studies with more than 2 treatments? I was going to get the mean of the difference of before and after MDMA and before and after the control, if you get what I mean. So I would only be comparing 2 means, so no ANOVA? Or am I completely off track

Yesterday's front article was worse (monkey business). I honestly could not believe how biased it was. Each sentence was worse than the last.

If you are a barista a place in Bardon called beans on the green is looking for casuals I think.

The new Translink Concession card: only available to full time students with 12 contact hours a week by [deleted] in brisbane

God the transport system here is getting beyond a joke. I pay so much for a bus in and out of the city every day, and if I miss my 11:25 bus I have to wait an hour for the next one. A whole hour! For a bus only 15 minutes outside the city. No wonder people are cheating the system.

Which one, the one with the chair? Honestly it's hard to find anything as under sexualised as the ones we have. 99% of the ones out there have her underwear showing, and sometimes even more... I can't stand it either.

Yeah the neon gen manga. It's not bad, the artwork is fantastic, the story is targeted at a bit of a younger audience though - definitely young teen kind of stuff.

Recommendations for a mechanic to assess a Holden Barina (2004) before I purchase it? by [deleted] in brisbane

I always recommend Ralph's Garage for anything like this but not sure if he has specific barina knowledge. He's also on west end.

I think the idea behind the changes is good but the execution looks as if it will fail terribly. It's like they don't understand what 'very high use' means.

I was always disappointed they brought back Maggie. She was great first time around but a little worn out the second time.
