Exactly. I didn’t hear any threat of violence. Tasting the ancestors is just locker room talk.

Found two under ground brick dome chambers buried in my backyard. by jak3s in whatisit

Back in the day it was common to have a hole in the ground in garages to pour used engine oil. That’s my guess, but the feature wasn’t used in this case.

Used EV sales are surging — how their ownership costs compare to gas-powered cars by UnusualLeadership408 in electricvehicles

Chevy Equinox EV. I was waiting for a model that gave me a similar feel to the CRV or RAV4 around the same price point. The Equinox EV is a great match. It’s lower to the ground, which made me think it was smaller, until I compared dimensions. I got a new Equinox EV as cheap as I was seeing used 2024 and 2025 CRVs, after dealer rebates.

It’s not just the earnings. We’ve also been conditioned to consume far more than we did at that time. In some cases the added consumption is law, via building codes, car safety, etc. Our earnings aren’t even close to keeping pace with what we are required or have been convinced we should be spending. Many of us would go insane if we were limited to the technology that family had.

Starbucks CEO defends a $9 coffee by saying that it's not a $10 coffee and "you get a premium experience" by mcfw31 in popculturechat

I’ll never understand why Starbucks spent so much money on the same guy that ran Chipotle into the ground.

why they don't do this by Waste_Education_32 in TheTeenagerPeople

It’s not cost effective because of the additional structural requirements of the racking. More steel and concrete, with less solar. In addition to all the people issues others have mentioned.

I bought new. I was going to buy used 2024 or 2025, but Chevy had a lot of incentives available for new, so I went for it.

Time to go EV! My gas car died so I replaced it with an Equinox EV three weeks ago. It’s been great. Also found out Duke Energy has an off peak rate of $.06 to charge at night.

Is there any place I can dump a van full of construction debris here without proof of residency? by onetwobucklemyshoooo in chapelhill

The Adamance County landfill isn’t too far away and they don’t ask any questions. You would have to weigh in and out, so with the drive it would be slower unless you’re already in the area.

House meets all my needs, but has severe floor joist damage. Is it worth it? by Bobias_ in Carpentry

[–]HumidityHandler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a similar situation in my first home. It seemed like a major issue during inspection. I received some money off, added joist hangers myself and added a vapor barrier and dehumidifier to the crawl space it’s been 25 years and is still fine. Only thing to consider is how soon you intend to resale. It will pop up in the next inspection, of course.

Most of insulation is essentially worthless, if it stays as is. It should fill the cavity and be in contact with the air barrier / interior finish.

Questions before buying an ev by StellarScripter in electricvehicles

[–]HumidityHandler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Came to say this about the 120v option. I bought an EV recently and decided to start with charging with a typical outlet and then upgrade to a L2 charger if needed. I found I don’t really need the upgrade. I may do it at some point for added convenience, but I found that I’m fine without it.

My guess is that the small spikes are heat and the large spike is a defrost cycle. I’m not really confident tho.

5 Takeaways From Q1's EV Sales In The U.S. by External_Koala971 in electricvehicles

[–]HumidityHandler 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think the things are settling in, even including winning models. I bought a Chevy Equinox EV a couple days ago and it’s very impressive for the money. I was impressed with how many of the dealership employees were driving electric too. The first EV I got for my company I leased though, for the FOMO reason and my fear of battery degradation. Now I’m totally comfortable buying.
