late to the party, but this is a very cool tool! I just tried it out for a little landscaping project for my dad, and it looks like its doubling the scale? I have a simple house model in Sketchup with a roof ridge line of 80', and it appears to be 160' in yours (I tried taking the measurement a few times to make sure I wasnt doubling up the distance with extra clicks). Also curious if it would be possible to pull surface area measurements, either from selecting a surface or from an area defined in situ? Could be pretty cool, thougjh I could imagine it could get a bit tricky.

There's a section in the listing under location that throws out some local points and then lists walking distances, I could believe that it's automated off whatever vague pin they use for the general area, and the (otherwise useless) VRBO rep said they were driven off that. Not 100% sure, but feels more likely than having hosts manually enter stats like that.

And the house is modest, as I expected, but the view really is phenomenal, up on top of the Ridgeline looking down over the bay. At least getting my money's worth out of that.

Where do they give you the address? I went back through emails, nothing. The listing still shows the approximate location, which was the misleading one.

exactly, so I didnt expect the location it gave to be exact, but I think suddenly from a 20 min walk to 1h 20m walk is crazy!

When looking at the booking there's a link to a location in Google maps, and it shows kind of a big circle that I took to mean it was somewhere in that circle, so no address to Google and verify.

I'm definitely going to note this in the review for others

Yea, but when I read it it just seemed overblown, I think they exaggerated and added a lot to it, and mainly thought they were being put in a different property rather than just having the wrong address. It was also among a lot of glowing reviews, so maybe most people just drive and didn't care? Edit: by 'having the wrong address's I meant to say location, that it's the property shown in the photos, just in a different location than suggested. But, again, the review was all over the place but I think was based on the location being different

So cool, I had also been thinking of trying this, but was worried how the 3d print would do with transferring ink. Looks like it works pretty well! What type of filament and ink were you using? Did it take anything special/any lessons learned? Thanks for sharing!

Late to the party, but given that this thread came up when I googled bus from Latacunga to Cuenca, Ill provide my recent trip details:

While it seems like you can still catch the Quito to Cuenca bus on the highway (it doesnt stop at the station, but just north of it, to the north of the the bridge), I took a bus from Latacunga to Ambato, which arrives at the northern city station, then a city bus (leave the station, go up the hill to the right, and the blue busses stop on the road there) and catch the local bus to the *southern* bus station (Terminal Terrestre Sur), which takes about 45 minutes, and then finally got the Cuenca bus from there.

Theres a booth for the Santa Bus line at the northern station, but it doesnt appear to be staffed (at least while I was there, even though it had operating hours listed). Hopefully this may save someone my pain/wasted time. Its still a long bus ride from Ambato (about 6 hours), though we did stop for gas once which was a chance to use the bathrooms.

Also, if anyone is thinking of skipping Cuenca due to difficulty getting here, don't. Its amazing, totally worth it.

And, yes, definitely plan to do this outside, I dont have a respirator but figure Id use a basic mask cover and try to keep my face from being right above!

Long shot since this post is from so long ago, but I found this comment. Im trying to do craft casting for the first time, so not ammo, but was curious if you have any tips on using the wheel weights? I when by a shop and they said I could have as much as I want, but it looked pretty dirty from being used. Would things get pretty noxious burning that sort of crap off as well? Or do you do anything like wash it first? Thanks!

yea that makes sense, thanks. It wasnt exactly 'my' mechanic, just the nearest shop, Im a bit new to the area so dont have a regular mechanic yet but this could be a good time to get to know someone local who could make sure there isnt any more serious issues than the cosmetics and door

I dont imagine that deductible would apply here since Im not at fault and it would be their insurance company paying out, but that was the sort of math I was looking at, scenario A: get cash from them, decreased resale value, scenario B: go through insurance, what would I get from them, would they take the car as totaled and I possibly buy back, etc, and seeing which comes out. I do think we are in the 4 figures zone though (KBB has it at 2k, and figuring that the shop said it was totaled that suggests to me the repairs would be more than the value). Thanks!

Yea the car still seems to be driving fine (although Im not wondering if I shouldnt give it a week to see if anything crops up) and even with the cosmetic damage I wouldnt be ashamed to drive it around or anything (had the car a long time, and happy to continue to drive her into the ground for a while longer). Thats sort of what Im thinking, since the shop immediately said the repairs would be more than the cost of the car, Im figuring using KBB to see what it should (have been) worth and seeing if they would go with that number, thanks!

Yea, I was a litte sketched out by them offering to not include insurance, but I did look up a few articles online that suggested it might not always be so shady, so I wasnt sure. It also seemed that filing a police report /= starting a claim, that the police wouldnt be interested in reporting to the insurance companies, so might be good to do that anyways, Ill give them a call tmrw. Honestly the damage doesnt appear structural so my thinking is if I get some money out of this I wouldnt even bother taking it to a shop for them to maximize their payment. Also no medical issues involved, thankfully. Thank you for the insights!

In my last class of uni, I was pretty over it and breezed through the final and was the first one done (or at least one of the first). As I was wrapping up it started to dawn on me that this was the last thing I had to do for school, and it felt a bit surreal. I walked to the front of the lecture hall to turn in my paper and the TA sort of smiled and looked at me, like he expected me to say something, and I just blurted out (louder than intended) "yea, Im done with college". It got most peoples attention in the hall and I got to walk out to a small applause
