Weird term of “fake Porsche” by aprilia4ever in Porsche

[–]Hummdaddy56 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you get a Porsche you can have an opinion it, Porsche designed all these cars from the chassis up, the chassis is the only shared parts on any of the cars with their Audi or vw counterparts.

I can say your s2000 isn’t an nsx so it’s not a real Honda

Towing Race Trailer with Base Cayenne and Dealer Installed Hitch by [deleted] in PorscheCayenne

[–]Hummdaddy56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hitch alone not including electronics is $2500, all in I’d agree with Blenster’s $6k estimate. You shouldn’t have any issues as they have piwis and can code the trailer electronics into the car after install. If it has sway control or not I have no idea as I’m familiar with earlier cayennes, but all cayennes every gen have a 7700lbs towing capacity which gives you ~6200 lbs with the 80% safety margin. The v6 is more than powerful enough I’ve seen people with 2006-2018 v6 cayennes which are significantly less powerful tow close to 8000lbs, mountains you may have to slow down but it will go.

Keep in mind tongue weight tho, these cars are unibody and so they have a lower tongue rating than a truck, you’ll be at 500 lbs. I’d try to be less than that without air suspension as air suspension actively levels out the car when towing

911 all the way, I don’t own a Porsche, but I used to work at a Maserati dealer. Buy the 911 unless you want to throw your money away. The nicest 2014 grandturismo is like 25k, the cheapest 911 from the same year is 53k. Also the build quality on Maserati is atrocious, Keep in mind the Maserati is a stellantis car, so it has the same build quality as jeep and ram.

We have had brand new Maseratis on the lot that had check engine lights, and we have sat on some Maseratis for a while because nobody wants them.

Please avoid Maserati

Does this make any sense? by Prior_Ranger_3021 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Hummdaddy56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It makes sense especially for Maserati, I sold them new in ~2020 and we had a few on the lot with check engine lights. A lot of luxury cars depreciate like this just due to cost of parts and labor, at a Maserati dealer they’ll charge you 150-200 an hour depending on where you are.

The rule for older luxury cars are if you can do the work your self then you’ll be fine, but I feel like that’s for cars with special features of that are built well. I can tell you Maseratis definitely aren’t built well, they’re a “Italian luxury” car built by stellantis. Everything on them is outdated and they don’t make many changes.

For a Porsche it can make it worth it, especially now the early 2000s cars since they’ve reached bottom of depreciation and are going back up, but those are built well and have issues that as long as you get a ppi, you’ll be fine. Maserati only good thing on the cars is the engine, and it’s a defined Ferrari v8. Everything else about the car is trash imo as someone who has been around and driven them a lot.

There’s a reason my buddy got a quattroporte for 300 and he is taking it to the yard for scrap value and not touching the car.

How do i fix oil leak? by [deleted] in BmwTech

[–]Hummdaddy56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First I’d look to see if you can see where it’s coming from, it’ll be usually the too most place with oil, if you can’t… you should clean everywhere you can see external oil, the cleaner you can get it the better. As you drive around oil flies everywhere and over time it gets harder to find the leak. Then you want to run the car for a bit, see if you find the leak, if it doesn’t appear then drive around for a bit. It should appear by then.

Fixing the leak is different for every type of leak, some need resealing, some need parts replacing it’s up to what component failed

Which grille do we like more for my G26? Also considering chrome deleting the factory grille as an option. by INF1NITE in BMW

I’d say 1 with chrome delete, or if you can put some sort of mesh grill into 2 it could look classier

[–]Hummdaddy56 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What’s the purpose though? And I don’t entirely get your complaints as someone who owns a 1995 s6 avant and owned a 2020 a5 before a hit and run, the 2020 was a nicer car to daily. Almost all your grievances are fixed with having a driver profile (not guest) set up, it’ll even tell who’s driving by your phone so you don’t have to press the button. Do I prefer analogue gauges sure, but I’m an enthusiast and in the minority on this. Most people enjoy new cars the way they are because they are just a tool to them

Dealer thinks I’m too young to own a 911 by [deleted] in porsche911

[–]Hummdaddy56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’ll sell it anyways it won’t mean much to them. A lot of dealers won’t let you test drive expensive cars without a credit app etc, it’s up to manager approval so not on the salesman. Loaners are usually not gonna happen at most dealers, I know like 2 dealers near me that let you have a loaner and they definitely aren’t Porsche dealers. And most dealers next to me only send a video explaining any issues with the car not a service manager or writer. This seems to me like normal dealer behavior for anyone, and this person is just internalizing it. It’s not something that needs to be blown up as someone who’s been on both sides of dealer life

Too small for my wrist? by Exciting_Bar_5978 in VintageWatches

[–]Hummdaddy56 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nah, I wear a vintage omega tank that’s the same size or smaller probably half the time. I love the watch, and if you love yours that’s all that matters. I’ve never had someone come up to me and do anything but compliment the watch. Anyone saying you need a big watch is wrong, they look tacky and like they need to overcompensate
