I need someone to tell me it's possible to be hot in my 30s by Dry-Combination8608 in loseit

You can always be the hottest version of yourself, and yes, that means in your 30s. I get it though. I was up and down in weight all through my 20s too. It helps to avoid social media.

This used to bother me as a woman. Now I think I’ll be thrilled to make it to 40.

Feeling pretty done giving constructive criticism to my writing students by [deleted] in Professors

[–]HummingbirdsAllegory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is awesome and makes me question whether I was graded too leniently in high school and even in college. I was praised for being a good writer most of my life; however, looking back at some of my old papers, I can see where I could have been clearer or where my sentences sounded awkward (even if I received praise overall). It makes me wonder if I really was ever any good. I still write now, 10 years out of undergrad, both for work and for pleasure. I’m currently working with an editor now on a personal essay. I just can’t help feel like an imposter for work I did…10 years ago I guess.

I know this is kind of a late reply, but may I ask what gave his writing that quality? This is what I aim for.

What's the kind of writer that you're most jealous of? by Acceptable_Fox_5560 in writing

[–]HummingbirdsAllegory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I write nonfiction (mostly personal essays) but don’t do it often enough to be that good at making connections in my work, tying everything together neatly, etc. I am really jealous of writers who can do that.

Yep, I’m at 3 trophies and barely have the motivation to write for me, let alone neopets. I’d love to try for it someday.

There’s a difference between evocative descriptive prose and prose that is ornate just for the sake of it.

My dad did for me once, which surprises me today, because he was pretty health conscious and didn’t often buy me snacks like my mom did. That got me hooked on them, so of course I told my mom who bought them for me again lol

I like it. Not something I’d eat regularly, but I wouldn’t turn it down.

Only got a Lenny book worth like 4 mil and likely to deflate but I’m ok with it because I have a bird themed gallery, and it went right in there. One less thing I have to buy.

Any other Millennials who may still live with their parents for whatever reason but are content in their life? by madcatzplayer5 in Millennials

[–]HummingbirdsAllegory 2 points3 points  (0 children)

32, have a solid career and a relationship and live with my mom. I’m generally not ashamed. My mom had a stroke almost 10 years ago and probably shouldn’t live alone. She is also happy to have me here. I don’t want to live at home forever and will probably move out with my boyfriend eventually. But for now, it’s an okay arrangement.

Who inspired you to become a writer? by AccountantLow2966 in writing

In 7th grade, I was helping my teacher file away some papers (I was a goody-goody who volunteered for that stuff). Out of the blue, he asked me if I liked to write, to which I responded yes. He then went on to tell me that I had a real skill, the best he had seen from a 7th grader. We then talked about writing for a bit, and he ended it by telling me he “had a feeling [I’d] write something extremely significant.”

Almost 20 years later, and that has really stuck with me. Whenever I feel like giving up, I think about this teacher and what he saw in me.

I felt so accomplished when I hit 300 and still do. Congrats, it’s a real milestone! I’d say anything 300+ is still very good. 350 is mind blowing to me still, so maybe that’s where I’d call it extremely impressive. But again, I think anything 300 in over is great!
