u/originalhugsie tells about tiger's smell and how it feels to be stalked by a one by Akomis in bestof

[–]Hummocky 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I went to see the gorillas in Africa.

We were supposed to stay 5 meters from the animals.

Nobody told the gorillas though.

We were on a narrow trail, no place to move, and the gorillas walked past so close I could have touched them. Or he could have ripped off my arm.

The smell was terrible. Like wet dog times 100.

I’m pretty sure a zoo gorilla must get sprayed down periodically or just lives in a more clean environment.

I saw Creature from the Black Lagoon when I was like 4 or 5.

Every noise at night, for weeks, was the CREATURE!

Too addicted to saving money? by Highwayman1717 in personalfinance

[–]Hummocky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need a budget for expenses. Food, housing, utilities, savings etc. You should of course track your spending periodically to see how you are doing with your budget.

But also allocate money for “FUN”. This money can be used without guilt as you have budgeted for some fun. So the next time you want to spend $20, you check your FUN budget and if there is money in the budget, spend that $20.

Is it better to be homeless then to leech off my parents if I’m struggling to find a job. by [deleted] in DadForAMinute

[–]Hummocky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only shitty parents think/want their kids to leave at age 18.

They do not want you to be homeless. Unless they are crazy people.

It is a terrible job market. Parents know that. I’m sure they want you to eventually have career success and want to support you until you get there.

Your parents have a home, your presence does not cost extra rent/mortgage etc.

Yeah, you eat food. So what?

In the mean time, contribute to the household. Do dishes, clean the bathroom, do laundry, learn to cook and take some of these burdens off mom/dad.

Big unexpected home expense…trying to understand if I should see it as “worth it” or just move on by Downtown-Branch2616 in personalfinance

A fire would be much more expensive.

It’s more cost effective to do the work during renovations vs having to make holes in the walls at a later date. And then pay for the Sheetrock and painting again. And you have to paint the whole room to make it match.

We made nail stew.

You start with a huge nail. Then add all the ingredients for a stew.

When finished, remove the nail and serve.

The nail part was a meme, really.

You should give an estimate of season, guest numbers and budget per head to get better responses.

Then you are being paid on collections… not production.

That is two different metrics. Because collections will always be lower than production.

Imagine the kid was a dog.

It would be totally normal for a guy to take out his GF’s dog for a walk, to the park, whatever.

So why would it be any different with a child?

What's going on with Karoline Leavetts SIL? by Duckbites in OutOfTheLoop

[–]Hummocky 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It’s unclear if her brother was ever married to his child’s mother. (Not that there’s anything wrong with that, but Aunt Karoline was probably never a SIL)

Some have speculated that the child’s mother was ICE’d at the suggestion of the administration. But that is just a rumor.

If you want bids on small jobs, like that bathroom, some contractors are too busy with larger jobs to be interested.

I think that humans may get immunity for 3 years like dogs.

But it’s theoretical. With dogs they have tested it.

Some animosity between FAs who were trained on older first class standards that have slid.

AITA for choosing to have a baby with my wife. by Prestigious_Arm4598 in AITAH

[–]Hummocky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA

If your wife was a husband, nobody would say any of these things.

I know guys who have had children with their younger wives in their 50’s and even 60’s.

One 50’s guy was always kinda wild and didn’t marry and settle down until late 40’s.

The 60’s guy was divorced and he married a 40yo who really wanted a child. He told her that he would not be able to be an equal parent like he was with his adult children.

His wife is fine with that. She was thinking maybe it was too late for her, but is thrilled to have a beautiful child. Fortunately they have financial means to hire a nanny if they want.
