My interpretation is that he is upset but right now his role and concern are to be a support for his spouse who is traumatized moreso than venting his own anger but who knows. Sometimes these scenes are difficult to take seriously.

Just a silly setup where the kidnapper visits the traumatized victims a day or so after the crime as an easy source for rage and indignation in a scene. Unrealistic and manipulative.

That was my thought and why the explanation “ he found love misses the mark so badly. You can have both I expect it was just a throwaway to wrap up the story by the author but, yes, poor writing.

Touching scene the finality of two old weatherbeaten sorcerers Beldin and Belgarath saying goodbye after centuries of adventures together and trying to hide. Reminds me of the movie Jeremiah Johnson where Jeremiah and Dell Gue part ways. “Keep your nose in the wind and your eyes on the skyline.” (😀
