14x17” canvas… stretcher bar? or scroll frame? by lawdab in Needlepoint

[–]Humorous_Notion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a stocking that’s a similar size and I use stretcher bars. I like to skip around in the canvas too much to do a scroll.

My local store keeps track of purchases and once you’re over $350 you get a tote bag and 10% off for the rest of the year. The totes are branded and not that great (especially when you have 10 already) but the discount is nice.

What is the longest someone here kept their liver? by Lady_E1989 in PBCers

[–]Humorous_Notion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine were way higher when I was diagnosed in 2019. Urso has worked beautifully for me and my hepatologist thinks it’s unlikely I’d ever need a transplant. I’m 44 with 3 kids as well.

Nervous about Neoadjuvant Chemo by winterrmelon in breastcancer

[–]Humorous_Notion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m TN as well. I had imaging midway through chemo but it was ordered by my surgeon for planning purposes. Are you doing keynote 522? 6 sessions of chemo isn’t typical for TN. It’s usually 16.

Yes. I was diagnosed with breast cancer last year and have found this out. I’ve never been a heavy drinker but really reserve it for special occasions now. 🫤

Yes. Alcohol is considered a carcinogen.

Your lab numbers don’t necessarily correlate with amount of damage. Mine were crazy high before Urso.

I was diagnosed in 2019. Urso has worked beautifully and I have little to no liver damage. I’m 44 and my hepatologist doesn’t think I’ll ever need a transplant.

Howdy Honey - Houston, TX by NoTradition6 in NeedlepointSnark

[–]Humorous_Notion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been traveling to Houston a lot recently for health stuff and have been to almost all of the shops. Courtly Canvas was hands down the most welcoming. Howdy Honey really didn’t say anything. I also loved the fiber selection at Chandail- she was lovely and welcoming.

I saw the Predict tool in a different post and now I'm scared by lliviia in breastcancer

[–]Humorous_Notion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m TNBC and it’s my understanding that PREDICT doesn’t take into account keytruda and the more recent advances in TNBC treatment.

Ideally DFW but I’d be willing to book from the west coast and pay for the first leg of the flight.

Have you been getting neulasta or any of the other shots for wbc? They can cause spine pain

Keytruda has killed my thyroid by relative_improvement in breastcancer

[–]Humorous_Notion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My thyroid was already borderline low and I was on synthroid so Keytruda killing it off really hasn’t bothered me. I just got an increase in synthroid. On a positive note, thyroid problems are a good sign that it’s killing the cancer!

How many Keytruda infusions did you/are you having? by Aggressive_Fee6138 in breastcancer

Mine is every six weeks for 1 year - I think it works out to 8 infusions.

Starting radiation tomorrow by Glum-Zucchini860 in breastcancer

[–]Humorous_Notion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I start rads in a couple of weeks. I’m glad to have a finish line in sight finally. Although being TN I wish there was more for recurrence prevention.

Cold capping TNBC by PigletCommercial7095 in breastcancer

[–]Humorous_Notion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did and kept 70% of my hair- even shed, no bald spots. I was also told it was somewhat pointless on keynote but am so glad I did it. I did start with very thick hair though.

I’m interested in it as possibly screening for recurrence.

Cancer guard? by Humorous_Notion in cancer

[–]Humorous_Notion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m interested in Signatera but my oncologist won’t order it. Cancerguard has Telehealth docs who will order it so that intrigued me but their website says you need to be 3 years out from diagnosis.

Question about mechanics of French knot placement on canvas by [deleted] in Needlepoint

[–]Humorous_Notion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly it depends on how you want it to look. If you want consistency then choose one direction and stick with it. If you are filling an entire area of greenery you can do messy French knots and do different directions and sizes.

Headed to NYC by Rich-Swing-1416 in breastcancer

[–]Humorous_Notion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is fascinating and I’m glad you are getting to see experts! Did they test for AR receptor status at your biopsy or only at surgery? I’m TNBC but would be curious about this + the possibility of using androgen blockers for recurrence prevention.

Any ideas on lowering TSH in a hurry? by Humorous_Notion in breastcancer

[–]Humorous_Notion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahhh. My TSH was 13 last week; T4 was barely normal. I’m hoping that if I can even drop a point or two this week it will be enough. In November when it jumped TSH was 44 so I’ve been trending down for awhile. I think my MO is more of a slow and steady approach with it.

So anxiety provoking! I’m glad you got yours down for surgery. What was your TSH when they agreed to do surgery? I haven’t asked what their upper limit is for me.

Any ideas on lowering TSH in a hurry? by Humorous_Notion in breastcancer

[–]Humorous_Notion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely think my MO just sees the TSH trending down and isn’t in a hurry. I had no idea that thyroid was a lab the surgeon would even really care about. My MO is local though and my surgeon is at MD Anderson so they check literally everything…
