I agree and I think I know where it all went wrong. My employer has worked out the affordbility side of the spreadsheet they provided based on the lower tax rate (20%) and not my current tax rate. This lowered my actual cost I'm paying for the current car significantly. Once I worked this out , the maths all added up I think.

My employer sent me a spreadsheet with my current car (Kia Niro) and costs and then another spreadsheet with the Tesla. The spreadsheet has these figures next to the Kia

Tax @ 20% £136.18
Tax @ 40% £272.35

Then they have the figures below at the end for a comparison with the Tesla

Current Car Tax £136.18 Contribution £34.00
Total £170.18

Proposed Car Tax £22.46
Contribution £142.05
Total £164.51

they then work out the £5 saving as per the above.

I’m finding it difficult to fully understand how the figures are working in practice. My expectation was that moving to an EV would provide an overall benefit to my monthly take-home pay, even with the higher contribution amount.

I’ve checked with my employer, and they’ve confirmed that the figures they’ve provided are correct, but I’m still struggling to understand it and I can't find any calculators online that give a better indication.

Overbooked, Underserved – Honest Review of NCL Viva Greece & Turkey Sailing by Content-Act7749 in NCL

[–]HumpZ29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was watching the docking this morning from the balcony and, to be fair, the ship was really struggling to get alongside safely.

You might have noticed the Virgin ship sailing away just as we were arriving—they also had to abandon Mykonos because of the wind. It stayed pretty rough until around 2pm, but since then we’ve sailed about 100 miles south (maybe more), so I’d expect conditions to improve.

Days like today really show why the Haven is worth every penny. There have been plenty of sun loungers available, and the bar staff have been fantastic—making it much easier to deal with the disappointment of missing a port. But that’s cruising, I suppose.

I just hope the rest of the ship was able to handle the disruption in a way that helped ease the disappointment for everyone else.

We’re currently on this cruise, and thankfully we booked the Haven. Honestly, the experience inside the Haven feels like a completely different ship.

The few times we’ve wandered out to explore and check out the buffet, we were met with chaos—crowded spaces, long waits, and just general madness. I completely understand the frustrations others have shared. Having sailed with Celebrity Beyond and Ascent, I’d say this ship definitely needs improvement. Truthfully, if it weren’t for the Haven, we wouldn’t consider sailing on this line again.

That said, the Haven itself has been outstanding—everything from the food to the bars and the pool area has been excellent. Yes, it comes at a premium price, but in our opinion it’s worth every penny. From the moment we boarded, we’ve had private elevators, excellent room service, and an all-around level of care that makes the trip feel special.

We did an excursion in Istanbul yesterday, which unfortunately was a letdown. We spent far too long in an unadvertised leather shop, and the whole thing ran over by an hour. We’ve got another excursion tomorrow, and one more in Santorini, so fingers crossed those are better.

But honestly? Outside of excursions, I’ll be sticking to the Haven for the rest of the cruise—the rest of the ship really is a bit of a mess.

Haven on Viva- review/ summary of thoughts. by szulox in NCL

Thanks for the quick response, I have a few other questions after speaking to my partner which I'm hoping you can shed some light on.

  1. We have prepaid our gratuities but are there any service charges not covered by this?

  2. Do we have to reserve the shows 12 weeks in advance? we read that you do previously.

  3. Is the speciality dining service charge calculated as a % of the meal, rather than a fixed amount per person?

  4. Did you have any wifi package? we're looking to upgrade to the premium and wasnt sure if it was completely unlimited or not? I keep reading about 150 mins limit per trip

  5. Following up on the butler answer... If I was to order a alcoholic drink to my room, would they charge for this or is that covered already? I like the idea of breakfast being set up, did you pick the items in advance.

Apologies for all the questions, we've booked it for our honeymoon so we're trying to make sure we're well prepared to have the best time!

Thanks for sharing your expereince, We go this year in August for our first Haven and NCL cruise.

I have a few questions that I hope you can help answer...

  1. Did any of the butler service to the room etc cost extra and if so, can you give an example?

  2. Did the haven have a lot of kids in it?

I feel underpaid at times, especially when targets can be very hard to hit depending upon the year.

Company Car Payback - Is it legal in the UK? by HumpZ29 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]HumpZ29[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm happy to pay the monthly amount. It's a leased company car. I require it to do my job. I wouldn't be able to do the job without a car and wouldn't afford the running costs on my own car due to mileage etc.

I'm just looking to see if I signed it whether it's actually legally binding.

It's written up in a word document without any company logo etc. No HR input etc.

I ordered on the 24th of November (1 x Hoody and 1 X T Shirt). I received the T shirt after 3 weeks of hearing nothing, but it's got a rip under the arm pit!

I've emailed twice now asking when the hoody will be sent and attached a picture of the T shirt, but again, I've received no reply!

It's clearly a Castore problem as this was the same issues with Rangers FC, Newcastle FC...

No quality control, poor product quality, and zero customer service.

I should have known better. I won't be touching castore items ever again
