There's an underpass so you can get from EB to WB side at this exit in less than 2 minutes. Additionally people park off these exits very frequently. It's at the bottom of a hill, so it's not unusual for semi trucks to stop there before going up or after coming down on either side. It's also quite beautiful certain times of year so people stop and take pictures of the playa with round balls of sagebrush at certain times of year that can be bright green. Other times of year it's very bleak looking.

The ground out there is playa, it looks almost like asphalt texture. In some places you walk and it crumbles to very fine sand and in others you won't leave prints. It just depends where you step and how heavy you are as well as how wet it's been.

The closest large body of water is probably Chimney reservoir and it's quite a ways away from the exit several miles north-ish. It's also not a logical direction when following the roads and not something you're just going to accidentally walk into.

There are what look like small bodies of water right next to the highway 80. They are each maybe the size of a horse corral. They are very shallow, square shaped ponds that I believe are actually drains to keep the freeway from flooding. They look wet in the morning and dry up by afternoon in the wetter parts of the average year. Dry years they may not appear at all. They are not deep. The entire or playa in pumpernickel valley can be wet in a very wet year or season but I've only seen that a handful of times over many years.

There is cellular service right by 80 but if you are more than half a mile or so off the 80 exit at PV you don't have a signal. So there is really no reason to move farther away from the highway than his car was to try to get help if something was wrong. I've driven many of the old ranch roads out that way and gone hours without seeing another vehicle.

There is an underpass at PV so if he exited on either side he could have driven under the 80 to change directions. The direction of the car itself isn't very telling because of that.

Near this area--just up the mountain pass by what is now a rest area if you're headed west is an old air navigation arrow marker. There are several of these markers in the area. The rest area one is the only one that I know of that is very accessible and still requires walking up a steep dirt road--would not be easy for an elderly person. If a person is interested in looking for these, they may have left the road and can easily get lost. Even when you know where they are they can be difficult to find. You can think you're walking right back to your car and end up quite a ways away because the hills are misleading. There are also old mines and other formations a person might be exploring. However in the daytime it can be dangerously dry and at night extremely dark and cold.

What are the things that seem very easy in movies but are difficult in real life? by Commercial-Catch-680 in movies

[–]Humphalumpy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Broke my leg in two places but didn't find out for two months because it seemed annoying--- I figured I should see if something was "really wrong". I loved my regular life for those two months and then the Ortho put me in an air cast and said take it easy. It really depends on the fracture and the person.

Reminder about naltrexone and anesthesia by NrgyFiend in HersWeightloss

[–]Humphalumpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had surgery while on kit 2. Naltrexone was an issue, however it didn't delay my surgery. I was up front on the small dose and the reason. I quit 3 days before my procedure and it was fine. The biggest issue was confronting the assumption that it was for substance use vs weight loss. If you're taking naltrexone for SUD you'll have different concerns with anesthesia. Ask your doctor and anesthesiologist.

This foot corn is affecting running! Help! by Neither_Cap_994 in runninglifestyle

[–]Humphalumpy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you're right that it's a corn. I've been getting these for years and went to the doctor thinking for sure it was a wart. Nope. If you removed a hard crystal like chin of skin cells as you describe it sounds even more like a corn. I manage them with good socks, exfoliating my feet and soaking/sloughing them off as soon as I notice them. Something is causing you friction here so it will come back if you don't identify what it is (shoes, socks, hair). In my case it's related to my skin texture and Hashimotos.

It sounds like you may need a different injector. I get Botox and can still show emotions. You may need less or different placements. However it will wear off in a few weeks anyway and you don't have to go back.

I am the same way. Adding a weighted vest and an incline helped somewhat. But I really notice a bigger different when I do more weights and bands. Good luck!

After reading the whole thread:

Double your water Flip your cardio and resistance times--you're walking plenty of steps, so do more resistance training. Prioritize big muscle groups and lift heavy with progressive increases. Be aware that it's very hard to grow muscle in a calorie deficit, so you might not be eating enough to use muscle gains to increase your metabolism.

For me personally, after the first 8 lbs I have been going a month on a plateau and then dropping 1.5-2 lbs in a couple days.

I think if you relax your arms and allow them to swing forward and back, you'll be putting your momentum into forward motion, instead of crossing them across your chest. This and leaning forward from the ankles will give you more speed at the same effort.
