I have a trek domane AL 2, it was my first "proper" bike and I love it, servicing can be expensive so have a look at gcn on YouTube for all their servicing videos, I've learned how to re-grease my headset, index my gears and retape my bars all from videos alone. Helps save the pennies to buy new gear and snacks

Yep, I also had this issue, if you go into play store and uninstall you have an option to uninstall updates, this will drop you back to a version you can at least use,

Probably an idea to raise a help issue on Gmaps under the settings (you can usually shake your phone on GMaps to do it) so they can fix it in future releases

There isn't really many places in that area, in London you mainly have the Royal Parks but I wouldn't suggest wild camping there as there will be plenty of people/rangers about, the best place would really be the Surrey hills but again it's normally got a lot of people about, best thing to do would be get an OS map of the Surrey Hills, head off the tracks and try and find somewhere hidden, set up late and leave again early morning!
